Don't disappear

Hi,
it's now Summer, and it is almost July. Last year at this time, most people seemed to have stopped surfing here regularly, and it tool until way into Fall/Autumn for this forum to get good again. I'd just like to quickly beg the regular members not to disappear for months on end if you can. I really love the community here.

Thank you.

Corwin,
I hope you have a great trip (although you probably won't read this until you get back). I was mostly thinking about how there were so few people for about 2 or 3 months last Summer. I'm sure loosing one or two members for a couple weeks at a time won't kill my fun, as long as a couple people are left to entertain me.

geek conferences have computer access besides, I'm hoping to meet up with some Bay Area MG'ers while I'm out here.

Scott, never too far from a computer

Scott,
Good, I know I couldn't be too far from a 'puter here. Enjoy your time in Mecca, I know I love to vacation down there.

Also, out of curiousity, which confrence is it? The only one I can think of right now, is Apple's WWDC .

WWDC is next door. I'm at JavaOne. There are a couple of joint sessions.

Next week is the ACLU conference here, so it is actually a two-fer conference vacation for me (well, javaone is work, but still)

Red face

I'll be around too. I remember how quiet it got last year, it almost felt like an empty house complete with an echo.
I may have a long weekend or two, but I should be putting my two cents in pretty regularly.

Java One

Ah, now I remember hearing that Java One was at about the same time. I used to be a huge fan of Java (still am really). However, I think Sun has missed the boat by not releasing a GUI friendly IDE, for free, about 6 years ago. I know that client apps aren't Java's strong suite, I just think that Sun allowed Visual Basic to steal a lot of their developers. I hope you have fun, and I hope Sun releases lots of good stuff this week.

Scot,
Programming for a cell phone sounds cool, but why would you need to program your camera? Other than the geek principal of, "because I am smart enough to be able to"... Sounds like fun, just don't forget to make a drunken fool of yourself each night!

Brent.
