Summer safety tips

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but with the Summer Growth Challenge underway, I think we need a tread on safety tips. The obvious ones are don't lift heavy weights above your head without clamps or a spotter. Another tip is to always wear a leather jacket when visiting an Alpine Slide . Take care, be safe, and get HUGE!

safety tip#2

i managed a gym for a long time.believe me,people hurt themselves more RACKING&UN-RACKING weights than they do exercising.smashed fingers,toes.wrenched backs,etc.you can't train if you're injured!

That's why I wanted to start this thread. Last year I had to stop training for several months because I skinned most of the skin off of my left tricep (thus the Alpine-slide mention). Also, I would never had thought of (re)racking weights as dangerous. Thank you for the tip. I hope there will be many more to follow from our members!

ohh... i will have to watch my fingers a little more closely. I guess that's a good argument for spotter assistance too.

Ive seen a few casulaties in the gym over a few years. Most of them were nothing too serious, but occasionaly someone hits themselves with a barbell, or a cable breaks on a machine, and then theres hell to pay. Personally, ive been trapped under a bench press once, and I managed to do some damage to my knees when squatting the wrong way while recovering from having them knocked around.
