A saw a news report once of a guy carrying a gun to a townhall meeting. he said he was trying to make a statement though the police did nothing to arrest him.

If he was legally carrying the gun (not a "banned" gun and had the proper permits if required) and not doing anything to threaten anybody with it (like if it was just holstered the whole time), the police really couldn't do anything to him. Depending on his attitude (the way he stood, acted, just presented and carried himself), the way he was handling the gun (loaded or unloaded, safety on or off, ect), and most importantly the kinds (loud, obnoxious, Limbaugh's way or the highway types) of people that have been turning out at these town hall meeting, I probably would not have trusted him with it and wouldn't even trust a 40 something year old housewife with butter knife or a car and the keys to operate it if I pissed them off either.

what those people in opposition to the plan have done is turned the agrument from "We are opposed to health care reform" to "The Government wants to take control over your personal health care, what could be next?", thus raising the spectre of the 2nd amendment being repealed (even though the suggestion has never been raised).

yeah shame they forget that Medicaid/Medicare is government controlled/subsidised.. I think the biggest opponents and spreaders of mis-information are connected to the drug companies that will get shafted by a government run healthcare system.. it'll bring a lot of unwanted attention to the companies that sell a drug for $380/mo to the us and the same drug for $60/mo to mexico (this is personal experience too)
