Story Idea.

Been having this idea in my head for a long while, but didn't really have a creative swing to write it. Hoping one of the more avid writers here could provide us with the story, whilst I provide the idea to spark something...interesting.

(The Grand View of the entire plot)

So there is this planet, completely different from Earth, on this planet, the moon reacts to the planet is wierd ways. Every being(lets just assume they're all humans) on the planet is pretty much like your average run of the mill human. However, this civilization is just getting into its own space race, towards thier moon. The civilization has 6 major "countries". Three of the countries are sorta like back around 1960's, 2 are allied and are like Japan in the 1970's, and 1 is in its own class due to it being so far ahead of everyone.

(Also, note, this planet's moon is 4 times longer out in space than our current moon, and dismiss some of the laws we have on our planet, the smaller the moon is in this universe, the more gravity so this moon while small, is roughly the same gravity threashold as a human weighing about 100 pounds times 1.5 or 100 x 1.5 = 250)

Now, lets cut to the chase now that we have a somewhat decent background.

Main Character is basically your average fit person, 164 pounds 5' 10''. He is quite fit in the areas of physical devolopment. (also, note this is a human-like race, not human though but very very close in nature.)

Main Character is the leading seat to go to this "moon". (The mission is a total of 28 days, he has nearly 4 months of supplies, just in case of some radical emergency, and the oxygen tanks have enough oxygen to supply to him for a good 3 1/2 months) He is selected out of a very small group of prospective people to go. The missions spec's are to retrieve samples of the planet for possible new elements. However, onces on the moon, his ship gets slightly damaged, causing him to have to repair it, delaying him getting off this moon.

He decides to check out the samples of rock, dismissing what the top scientists said of what might happen if it reacted to oxygen in the air. Stupidly, there is a leak in the containment cell where the samples are being held, due to the damage. He is unaware of any of it at all, fixing the ship. Because of the oxygen hitting the samples, they start to put off a odorless, colorless gas, that is inhailed into the lungs of our main character. (Lets just say this is close to around the 11th day of the mission.) The delay has costed him greatly, he is fine on oxygen, but he is nearly the at expected date of returning to home, and the ship is still in need of many repairs. Day by day, he slowly is inhailing the gas, little as it is, it starts to affect him in ways he doesn't notice, yet...(around the 19th day)

Realizing that the repairs are going to take much more time than expected, he "phones home and says that the damages are going to take longer"...Around the 25th day, he wakes up with a cough, thinking its something due to over excertion, he takes the day to take a break from repairing the ship. However, the inhailing of the gases are starting to take their toll on the person.

By the 27th day, the coughing is worse, and continues to take a break, but also noticing that his chest looks slightly bigger, thinking its something serious, he decides to rest for a few days, thinking its just a cold. So he goes in the incubation area of the ship, where the gases are at high levels, and falls asleep for 3 days, thinking that'll cure him.

On the 31st day, he wakes up, but is stuck in the "tube-like" structure of the incubation pod, and has to use the break out button. When he gets out, it's hard for him to walk, nothing is constricting his legs though, but his chest, is much larger than three days ago, his chest has becomes so heavy, that his lower body is having a hard time dealing with the weight.

Getting slightly scared, he decides to take some medicine, thinking it will help him, he also works on the ship, nearly finished with the repairs. (around the 32nd day) So at the end of the 32nd day, he goes in and takes a much needed nap, deeply tired from all the hard work.

(Take into account, he took medicine by the way. This is a catalyst for what is just about to take place in the morning)

On the 33rd day, he gets up, but has an even harder time walking this time. This time, his legs have swolen, and his arms are slightly swollen. Fearing something is wrong in his body, he decides to take more of the medicine, as it did help him feel slightly better, and he also decides to take a longer incubation nap, but this time for 5 days, but in the incubation room its self, because his chest and legs have swolen beyond their normal states.

During his incubation nap, his body changes, reacting to the medicine and the gases from the samples, it swells and swells, slowly becomes heavier and heavier. By the 36th day, mind you still "napping", the swelling starts to form into his muscles and bones, where the swelling was, it was replaced with hardened bone and muscles.

On the 38th day, he wakes up, attempting to jump out of bed like normal, but has a hard time, realizing that the muscles are making him want to wiggle when trying to just leap out, instead he has to roll over and move his legs on to the floor.

He slowly discovers that his body, wasn't swelling, but getting ready to put on this muscle, and he also notices he is still slowly growing.

He decides to weigh himself, but doesn't bother measuring himself in height, due him being the same height as before everything happened. He discovers that on the weigh machine, he weighs close to XYZ(some large number in the 600 - 800 range) pounds. (Remember, the gravity is 1.5 times more than earths.)

Noticing it is still hard to walk, and also noticing he can no longer see his legs, due to his chest being so large. He deduces that his leg muscles have grown to the point where he now has to "swagger".

Unaware, he has also grown an appetite for oxygen, as his lungs have doubled in size and his heart is much larger, plus the muscles. Plus food is becoming a lovebug for him, and his repairs are nearly finished. He decides to "phone home" again and discovers his voice has also changed...

I'll let someone come up with more from there, but I think this'll spark a grand story for people to read.

-Mind you, you do not have to go off this exact idea, you could have this person get pricked by a some object in a deserted area of a forest where no one has been for ages, and his hand becomes mutated and the mutation slowly grows upward to the rest of his body.
