I've been seriously working out for a year and a half. Since I'm older (now 49) it's been a bit slow. However, I have lost 30 lbs of fat, put on about 15 lbs of muscle. My waist has gone from 38 to 32", my arms from 13" to 16.5, and chest from 40 to 45".
I want to really get my body fat as low as I can. I started at around 27% and am now around 15%. Like to get it to 10. Let me hear your goals. ![]() |

Muscledude,
You should definitely be proud of your progress. I started lifting when I was 18, though for the first two years I didn't really pay much attention to my diet as I should have. I was about 130 at the time and 5'6". Now I'm 22, still 5'6", but carrying 180lbs on my frame. My bodyfat isn't as low as I'd like (15%) but I've started working on getting it into the single digits by the time summer rolls around. flexodus |

Nothing "slow" about that progress! Good work!
How is it that at 15% bodyfat you have a 32" waist, and at 9% mine was still 38"? Sigh; life is unfair; lol. |

muscledude49, I think beyond just the progress you have made, you should really be proud of the fact that you've been going to the gym for a year and a half. That says to me that going to the gym must be a habit for you. I find it easy to get motivated, but it isn't so easy to stay motivated. I haven't seen any 'before' pics of you, but your arms certainly are looking buff now. Anyways, if you keep going to the gym, who knows what is possible over time? I think that is much more important, to keep going to the gym, than having some quick gains in the short-term at any rate.
Keep up the good work! |
