What? Rowan actually finished a short story? Yep. Wrote a short story (10,000 words), and now it's online. The site's called Forbidden Fruit, which is a site "for girls who like boys who like boys." Life is interesting, sometimes. The site features a nice group of people, and some excellent stories. Writers are both guys and girls, so I didn't feel at all like the odd man out because of that. What does make me feel a little 'odd man out' is that this issue centers around Urban Fantasy, and my story is the first I've ever written with no UF elements. lol. My story's called A Picture's Worth. It's got a bodybuilder, it's got sex, it's got love. It's got Mason, a photographer with a playful--but often very harsh--attitude. AND it's free. Hope you guys check it out. Link is below. Once you get past the age gateway, just click on the 'fiction' section and look for me near the top. www.forbiddenfruitzine.com If you read it, let me know what you think. -- Rowan __________________ www.rowanmcbride.com ***** "And so, may Evil beware and may Good dress warmly and eat lots of fresh vegetables." -The Tick Last edited by Rowan; September 4th, 2006 at 11:21 AM. What a wonderful story. Dash of mystery, dash of frustration for the 'usual' hero, dash of lust, and a pinch of muscle. All in all, a very nice read. Of course I wish there was even more, but I can also see the work that went into this tale. Rowan, Thanks. Very nice to read another of your stories. And another finished one. OMG. Is it snowing in South Texas? LOL Loved it __________________ Jeff aka Braun1 |

Say i had a few million dollars to spare.... I would spend every peeny to turn this story into a movie - not a porn movie (it wouldn't need millions of dollars) but I would finannce the best professional to get the best non-porn gay movie - this story is a really a great work! It reads fast, yet you still feel like when reading "Flow" - you don't know what is happening next... Excellent as always, Rowan (people are betting to see if i call you THE Rowan again? Now in your oppinion was this a legitimate try ?) - It only shows to me another one of your passions - photography - we can see how it's appealing to you, the technical terms and proceedings are subtly built within the story, like when during Flow showed us you love for music, this story showed us yet another angle of THE Writer you are (and what about that? does it count as a violation?) You, my friend, is a de-constructor - like the great Jean-Jacues Derrid? you tend to pick all the concepts we have previously taken as "eternal" and turn them into a pile of scrumble - just to force us to imagine a different possibility other than those with which we are already are familiar. The way the muscle stud feels around the "average" phtographer - normally most of men would be intimidated just by walking around him - you made us see that things can also be different. In any case, big thumbs up - such a passionate story that is amazingly full in its meaning - you told us a love story outside the normal standards, using elements that we have all seen before. That's genius, that's creativity - that is a worth a mulit-million dollars motion picture ) Cheers Bruno __________________ There's no such thing as TOO BIG! Gorgeous story, Rowan! Makes me wish all the romance novels I read were as good as what you write... But then, a gal can't have everything, can she? |

Once again you've outdone yourself. I do not know where it comes from but keep it up. Also I think I may break out the mace and whip if we can't get poor Jonah out of that basement and find out if Vincent scarred another soul for eternity. Saved is gearing up to be quite the intriguing ride as well. You just keep a steadily typing and we'll keep right on reading and hanging on every word. |

A friend of mine was kind enough to create an illustration to go with A Picture's Worth. You can see it on my site: http://www.rowanmcbride.com/stories/shorts/picture.html It's... very nice. -- Rowan __________________ www.rowanmcbride.com ***** "And so, may Evil beware and may Good dress warmly and eat lots of fresh vegetables." -The Tick |

I like the people you create. They even make superficial passages meaningful. |
