Who is the forum moderator/admin these days?

Older threads with this question identified Flexodus but when I contacted him I never heard back, so perhaps it's someone new?

If you look at the lower right hand corner of the stories page, you should see two moderators listed. Currently I see optimusx and TeknoDave.

Honestly, it doesn't seem like much moderation gets done these days. There's been a wealth of underage stories lately, which are, again, really bad for this forum and members who don't want to be associated with stuff like that, but reports generally go unheard or unanswered.

Actually, Heartbleed is probably not an issue because this site doesn't use secure connections. Sites are only vulnerable to Heartbleed if they use TLS or SSL to secure connections, and as far as I can tell musclegrowth.org doesn't even have the ability to do that in the first place.

Of course, the fact that connections to this site aren't secure in the first place is a vulnerability in itself, but one of a different kind entirely. (And, on top of that, it's running an outdated version of vBulletin ? 3.8.7 when the current version appears to be 5.1.)

Yeah, running nearly two versions behind on the forum software is a massive vulnerability in and of itself...

What I love about this heartbleed thing is how everybody seems to assume that their information was safe in the first place. My assumption is that anything put online is automatically at risk. I thought that was common sense, but it doesn't seem that common.

Flexodus has a life. Maybe it's a super busy one. Much could be done to improve the board (like refocusing on muscle GROWTH instead of worship) but we need to be thankful for what he's doing for us. I'm sure it costs him a good chunk of change at least.

Thank you, Flex!

What?! Don't you know that the only plausible role of people who kindly go out of their way to provide services to others is to toil endlessly to provide free support as well? We shouldn't thank them ? work, slave robots!

A few years ago I read a report from a trustworthy source that said their test for "Common Sense" indicated that it was only exhibited in 7% of people!

I was really surprised at that figure, but perhaps they were right. I always felt it was lower than that.

On the subject of internet privacy, it's a big reason why I would prefer people not post stories with minors in them...doesn't matter if we all have pseudonyms, there are no secrets on the internet. My participation in this forum and others like it would be embarrassing to me but not illegal and I'm prepared to deal with consequences for liking male muscle growth and hypnosis, but I'm not prepared to have my life destroyed because someone wanted to exercise his "freedom of speech".

Let's not overreact.

I can understand being wary of stories about adults having sex with minors or having sexual fantasies about minors or even just being sexually attracted to a minor. Those stores are kind of worrisome.

But stories where teenagers have sex with each other? You're worried about that? Hollywood has been making movies where high school students have sex with each other for generations. Am I the only one who's seen American Pie?

Hey guys,

This site does not use any SSL encryption, as is the case with many forum-based sites, even including the forums section at Bodybuilding.com, which are some of the most highly-trafficked on the internet.

We are running vBulletin v3 at present since the hosting server does not yet meet the requirements to run v4 and newer, however vBulletin still issues security patches for v3, v4, and v5 simultaneously. I just saw we are one patch behind, but this should be fixed within the next week.

If any one has any concerns about security on here, please exercise caution (and common sense) and do not use a login password that is the same with any other account you may use, and avoid posting or messaging any sensitive information via chat or private messaging mechanisms through this site.

Hi X,

Usually the only posts which get sent to the moderation queue are posts from new users, or users who have less than 5 existing posts on the forum. This is to deter spam bots from posting. However, users who already have 5 or more posts can post directly to the forum without moderation. There are content guidelines in place, but I'd rather still let authors use their own judgement and post freely without needing each post to be moderated. However, if there's something really amiss, please send me a PM and let me know.

Yes, this is exactly what I'm arguing about. Those who are worried about a sex site posting stories with children and teenagers in them are also worried about Shakespeare, because clearly that is the exact same type of thing in SO many ways. Hardly any difference at all. Nope.

Arpeejay, I understand your argument, but whether or not something is legally protected as free speech doesn't mean that it won't bring about unwarranted scrutiny to this site. You wouldn't be the one to have the bear the brunt of it, but someone else would. I'm sorry you feel that such a rationale is offensive. People are paranoid because at times even the mere spectre of something has been enough to turn lives upside down.

If you truly have an issue "associating with skulkers" I suggest you avoid any site in which people post anonymously ever again. That's a pretty sanctimonious thing for you to say.

Regardless, I'm still very sorry to see you go. I really have hoped all this was never an issue in the first place, but I keep getting pulled in several directions regarding by people on this and have ended up erring on the side of caution, short of shutting down the site altogether. I'm sorry that you feel that this policy is enough to make you leave the site completely.

If this were a straight-oriented site, the concerns would be the same. For you to insinuate that this specific site policy is being borne out of the ashamed, "skulking in the shadows" is off-base. You said you were offended by the policy in your prior comment (that you've since deleted), but it doesn't benefit the discussion for you to cast aspersions in the other direction either.

All the best to you, Richard.

It's been fun but you won't be seeing further contributions from me.

All the best...
