Alain Petriz (French Bodybuilder) +50 age Hello everybody, my name is Alainand I'd like to share with you some of my opinions about the world of bodybuilding. I've been practicing this discipline for over 17 years now. I started almost by accident, after practicing several other sports. I began late at 33, but I dove full force into the competitive contests, trying to make up for lost time. In my record there are 4 titles of French champion, 2 times Mr. Europe runner-up, runner-up at the 2002 Mr. Universe and twice finalist at the World Championship. During all these years, I've had the opportunity to meet, get to know and keep in touch with numerous athletes, men and women, from all races and all walks of life. A bodybuilder might sport a great physique, but is often considered like a "freak", some sort of mentally handicapped individual (lots of muscles but very little brain). Generally speaking, people who pass this kind of summary judgement are usually lacking the courage, discipline and mental toughness to succeed in improving and -ultimately- transforming their bodies. If they would only take some time to get to know anybody seriously practicing bodybuilding they might be pleasantly surprised! They might even revise their prejudice about them and view them not as edonists full of themselves, but simply as people willing to sacrifice and be rigorously disciplined in order to achieve their goals. Bodybuilding is very often a choice of life. Also, a lot is being said on how to fight racism or cultural intolerance; well, discriminating against bodybuilders simply because they look "different" is also a subtle and devious form of racism, in my opinion, and totally unjustified! Thank you for having patiently read my piece and keep in mind that: it's NEVER TOO LATE to start striving for a positive change in your life! In good health. Website: http://www.alainpetriz.com Fans Group: http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/alainpetriz/ |

That's nice and all, but it doesn't belong in this area of the forum. __________________ Tim |

sorry guys... maybe I made an error to join this forum! I will escape immediatly |

Alain: What you posted was perfectly appropriate for the Evolution Forum, it just should have been posted in the "General" section. The "Your Stories" section is designed for fiction. As for Funboy's comment, I don't know what about your posting strikes him as an advertisement. It sounded like a good, honest summary of the experiences (psychological etc.) of a competitive bodybuilder now in middle age. As someone close to you in age, I appreciated your thoughts -- and I'm quite pleased that you've joined us. xoxo Richard |

I disagree with you. This is a link to a professional, money making site. Does fleX get any money for anyone who follows the link and signs in? Doesn't look like it since no referring site ID. Is it posted with the permission of fleX and pay advertising fees? Again, doesn't look like it, but only fleX can answer this question (although I notice no comment in that regard from Alain). Until we hear from fleX that this post is ok, my attitude is still polite, but firm, disagreement with you. It is similar to spam - but (in my opinion) possibly worse. This post takes advantage of ME's widespread membership and even wider viewing audience to look for profit. The traffic here has been created by the hard work of fleX, the quality of the site and stories etc. submitted, and well established name - without permission - and that is akin to theft. __________________ Our three great gifts are life, the ability to laugh and to love. You guys are nuts. Just FYI. rpj |

Discussion dismissed - because "you guys are nuts". Very disappointing. Your view is now also dismissed - not because you are nuts - but because of that attitude. Perhaps I just need to be educated better - then I would see the light (as in your opinion). __________________ Our three great gifts are life, the ability to laugh and to love. Please do stop biting your tongue, Tim! I'm sorry I called both of you "nuts." Your point of view is so extremely divergent from mine that my mind is completely boggled. And, no, I don't think there's much point in trying reach a "meeting of the minds." It's OK for you to have your point of view, OK for me to have mine. If FleXodus has a problem with Alain's posting, he'll take care of it. All the best... Richard |

Alain: I agree with Arpeejay, great post, very well written and kudos to you for your life-long endeavors in bodybuilding! Tom |

only for curiosity, I had put last week your site in my links page... but if you dont accept me here, no problem, I can leave immediatly |

Why are we beating up on this guy? He's obviously an accomplished bodybuilder and his website is totally hot. I vote he stays! |
| |||
I vote he stays as well! He can help many bodybuilding group members. __________________ The Brain is a very powerful muscle - It can defeat you or it can be your best friend - the choice is YOURS! |

Yea I could see if his site was a completely pay per view type it would be questionable, but in checking it out, there's a lot of great stuff that's free. Great photo gallery. Training tips with even more pictures. Interview where he mentions Serge Nubret which rocks since Nubret is one of my favorites. And he's....two years OLDER than me?!?! And looks like that!!! While I look like.......THIS!!! Excuse me, I have to go down to the crawl space in my house and live with the spiders....... Before I leave I'd say let it stay though...... Yalouz Question for Alain I see that you have been a model for Yalouz. Why are their clothes so expensive? I've also tried, diligently, to purchase their stuff but have not had success but worse than that, when I've written to them, they appear to "not care" if they make a sale or not. It just puzzles me. There are some of their clothes that you've worn that look great. It is almost as if they only sell to the French. Hopefully, you can shed some light. Now that's a dumbass response. Better end the forums now in that case if anyone who expresses an opinion and enters into a discussion is branded as "wants it their way or no way". I don't usually talk or write like this - but you are an asshole. __________________ Our three great gifts are life, the ability to laugh and to love. Jeez!!! Leave Alain and his posting/site alone. He's cool, and this site doesn't need any site police, they have moderators that will remove what needs to be removed. Peace and OUT! D. |

And FYI, Alain hasn't posted a message since June of 2007...wonder why? |

Regardless of the grudge factor I must have missed the original posting... It's inspiring to see a guy of his age in that kind of shape... It means there is still hope for me to get the sort of body I want... in short to "look good naked..." Ender |
