Smile Inspiration - BB'ing Shows

What does anyone else think about bodybuilding shows as a source of inspiration--workout advice--good equipment--cheap thrills ( ???

I'm going to the Arnold in Columbus Ohio next month, and I wondered if anyone else had ever gone? What's good? What should I NOT miss!? What should I skip?

I've never been to a pro show, so I'm looking forward to it!

C'mon guys, let me hear what's good!

Thanx

Mdlftr

BB shows

Mdlftr,
A few observations from attending shows such as the GNC show, etc.
- They are excellent opportunities to meet some of the professionals up-close and personal. I had a blast laughing with Kelly Ryan and having the fitness babes surround me handing out free MRP packs and sample protein bars.
I even enjoyed talking to Craig Titus although he almost made me spill my cookies when he was talking about his upcoming surgery.
Dave Palumbo is brilliant... his pre-med background and knowledge about natural and other supplementation is impressive.
- Photographs:
Great opportunity to get your picture taken with some of your favorite builders... Gunter is extremely personable, funny and very willing to pose for the camera. There are some guys who have an attitude... just ignore them and move on.
- Reality check:
These guys put their pants on the same way you and I do... one leg at a time.
- Miscellaneous:
We all like to hear compliments... for me - getting a compliment from Dave Palumbo and some of the other pro's was a huge motivator!

BB shows - tips

Bulkinupbig-
Thanks for the input. What I'm hearing you say is that BB shows are a totally different reality from the magazines.

"Dave Palumbo is brilliant... his pre-med background and knowledge about natural and other supplementation is impressive."

- Wow, who'd a thunk it?! [Not a slam on Dave, just surprise. The magazines give a TOTALLY different impression!]

I'm really starting to look forward to it. I've seen pix elsewhere of candid audience shots from BB shows, and the pros look even bigger when they're around average-sized people for comparison! As far as talking to the pros--it didn't even occur to me that they get out and mingle.

Question: at a pro show like this, if you have to choose:
1. go to the prejudging or the night show?
2. Do the exhibit hall and skip some of the prejudging/ show/etc itself?

[Reason I ask--- the Arnold show has what seems like a ton of stuff going on --fitness shows, strength shows, exhibit hall, etc. etc. What did you find to be the best part of the experience? --Besides being complimented by Big Dave, and seeing Kelly Ryan, that is!]

thanx,

Mdlftr

BB shows

Mdlftr,

If this is your first time attending a show... you might want to experience it all. Kind of like the first time you have sex...

Personally, I found the exhibit hall a great place to actually meet some of the pro's up close since many are there as spokespersons for their sponsor/supplement company.

The evening show will give you an opportunity to see all of the pro's in their individual routines. Pre-judging simply allows you to see the pro's side-by-side in the mandatory poses.

Again, experience it all if it is your first time.
And post pics after your visit.

BBing shows - pix

Thanks for the tips --- I'm getting a camera now!

I assume that getting the cheapie disposal camera, then having the digital images processed is the way to go..... Not exactly a techno-wiz here, but it seems pretty straightforward....

On to Columbus!
