Method to counter forum spam?! What about, implementing a community spam rating on post/thread? If someone spotted a suspicious spam post/thread, then one can rate on the post/thread whether he/she see the entry is highly, likely, maybe, not likely, not highly a spam? I know this may be abused in other post or area. But instead of killing the suspicious post/thread off the database, it gets put into another table/area to be reviewed by the Mod/Admin, and determine whether the post/thread is of any value or merit it was rated?! How it may work: I may be reading a post/thread and think that it is highly possible a spam, then I rate +3, and another person may think it is a maybe so +1, then someone else disagree, and rate it not likely -1 and so on, and in the end the calculation will determine whether or not to put it aside when it reaches a threshold. Or instead of hidding it away, it just change the visibility of the post/thread, or may even sort it into another part of the same forum - normal post/thread at the top, and suspicious post/thread appear in the lower part of the page, in a separate table. What do you all think? |
