bulking progress

In the midst of a lean bulk diet plan. Got a new digital camera so here is an updated back shot. Working on improving lats and arm size. Have gained 1/2 inch in arms since starting this new training plan so I am relatively encouraged. Sorry about the angle, still figuring out how to get the digital zoom to work. Feedback is always appreciated.

Great back!

It's great to see a back-shot. We usually focus so much on the "Mirror-muscles" that we don't think much about the back. Yours looks great, and I bet you are looking good in your lab-coat!

frame

Looks like you have a good size frame to put lots of muscle on. You can already see some thickness in your upper back.
dont forget delt work to build up those shoulders. Keep at it
it takes time and work

Here is an update of my current lean bulk plan. About 3.5 months in. Have gained 7 pounds, lost 1 inch off my waist, and increased vascularity using a new training diet. Lifts have been mainly compound in nature which has really boasted my overall strength. Arms still relatively lagging but they have always (biceps in particular) been slow to grow. Feedback & constructive critique always appreciated as I know (and have met via IM) some serious lifters on this board.

Glammaman2000--just for clarification, are "vertical preacher curls" also known as "spider curls?" I think they are the same excercise that you describe, but just want to be sure. Thanks.

Keep up the great work!

Buffdoc, I agree that your arms are looking great, I can see the veins starting to come out on the bis--but I also think that you're shoulders are starting to show some real improvement--not that they were bad to start with, mind you--they have good shape, proportion and size.

spider-curls?

don't think it's the same as vertical preachers.vaguely heard of them.is it some weirdness where you lean back between 2 flat benches with 1 bench under each arm&everybody in the gym gets pissed off at you because you're monopolising too much equipment?

BuffDoc, you are lookin good there buddy. And like Brent, I also hope you will put up a pic with your muscles bulging in your labcoat one of these days. I think your biceps are looking great too. One technique for the bicep dumbell curls is to give a little twist of the wrist (thumb rotates outward). It seems to wake up those fibers. (But be careful, you may end up with 22" biceps. LOL)
Is it my imagination or does your face bear a striking resemblance to Charlie Brown?

...BRENT, I wholeheartedly apologize for calling you Brett !
I only just now looked at the thread and noticed my error. (I must have picked it up from TV or something) I'm so embarrased I think I have just shrunken two feet in height. I'm a yutz

Nope, I found a website where the exercise I'm talking about is illustrated...

http://www.weighttrainersunited.com/spidercurl.html

I think it is the same one, just different names.

Ottomun6, for what it's worth, I agree with you on the little twist--seems to make quite a difference!

I agree that sometimes it gets confusing when trying to describe exercises to someone else from another gym but I think standardizing can go to far.

Why don't we simply call it exercise number 22A/3. It would certainly be standardized. Complete with subtle variations for various sized people.

However I actually find that level of informal information refresing in this day and age where almost everything is standardized. It lends an air of intimacy to it when you have to teach somebody something personally instead of refering them to a book.

I have a simple solution, I come up with my own names. Being a tiny bit narcissistic, I call the Preacher Curl, the Brent Curl. The bench press becomes the brent press, etc. It's a little like the Smurfs, only more about ME!

Well, as long as you're happy--and growing--I suppose you can call them anything you want! And if you're lucky the "Brent Press" will really catch on (immortality is in your grasp--you go guy!)

I agree with Glamm: you are bulking up well, and you still have months before Summer really starts (well it seems to have started here, but you live way up North...) You should be happy with your progress so far. If anyone doesn't appreciate it, they can just f**k off.

Real Progress

Nice work! I went up to the earlier pics and see some real progress in your back and shoulder development. Your lats are really starting to flare out - and your arms look bigger, too. Keep it up!

Hi Muscle Doc,

I have to agree with Notbigenuff, your lats are really getting huge. Thats one of the things i noticed straight off. Your back is widening as a result. Your delts and shoulders are also forming a great bulge on those arms too...

Good Job... Well done!

Keep pumping,

Marc
