Im not sure I care much for the new lay out but I guess we take what we are offered.

As I mentioned in my earlier post and in the forum announcements -- the interface and layout as it is right now is out-of-the-box, meaning it's generic and hasn't yet been customized for this site. I know I can't please everyone, but you can at least try to be a little more considerate.

Guys, this isn't the final look of the board.. I only had time last night to do the upgrade and I won't be able to restore it to its more familiar look until later on this week. This new version however will allow users to more customization in how the forums and threads appear to them, so if you find the default layout scheme and colors hard to read, you'll be able to

Save your comments (criticism) until then

. This is frustrating for me, but I'd rather leave the forums active in it's out-of-the-box state rather than shut it down until the interface/layout modifications are complete.

Can you people read you have to build a design around the software after you upgrade. I have run a forum and it was horribal every time you have to upgrade.

Alright, the new interface has been activated. Hopefully most of you will find it easy to read.

As part of the recent forum software upgrade, you can now chose from different interface skins which control how the forums are displayed on your browser. There are currently two themes to choose from, with more being added later. 'Air' is a lighter color scheme with dark gray text on a light background. 'Plasma', which is the default scheme, features light text on a dark blue background.

To select a theme, go to your Control Panel::Edit Options page, scroll down to Miscellaneous Options and look for the pop-up menu under Forum Styles.

You can also switch themes from any page by scrolling down to the bottom and selecting a theme from the Quick Style Chooser pop-up menu. Hope you like!

I noticed that some people have avatars in their postings. I went to my user control panel and enabled all the avatar related options that I could find but I tried to setup my avatar and can't do it. I found a "to disable avatar" checkbox but it's permanently selected. Is this a bug or am I missing something obvious?

The forum system is driven by software called vBulletin. The interface you see was a vBulletin skin purchased from eXtremepixels.com which I then customized with my own typography.

The old red interface of the previous version I did myself-- unfortunately the new vBulletin software version has so many new features (and hence many more buttons and interface elements) that I simply didn't have the time to create them all myself, so I purchased a premade skin for it instead. I'll be creating some skins from scratch to add to a growing list of available skins as soon as I have the opportunity. And I'll definitely see what I can do in the future about bringing the old red version back to the site as a user selectable skin.

Despite everything, I actually did need to perform this 3.x upgrade since many visitors were experiencing performance and page response issues with the version 2.x board. Thankfully these issues seem to have been rectified with the new version.

So there you have it. Thank you to those who have been understanding and supportive.

I simply LOVE the "Air" skin! It. is. so. TOTALLY. cool!!!!
Oh yeah, and the whole thing rocks, too! There's so many NEW things! So many BUTTONS! WHO wouldn't LOVE this???

Anyway, don't mind me, I've just had WAY too much sugar.
