Size or Strength Given a choice between staying the same size but being much stronger, or being bigger but having the same amount of strength as you do now, which would you choose? |

strength I guess I'm in the minority on this one (at least so far). I chose strength because I'd rather be a 180 lb freak who can bench 360, than a 360 pound musclebound weakling who can only bench 180. I think seeing a freaky huge guy who can't move any weight would just be too dissapointing for me. But a little guy who can lift tons, that's impressive! |

Let's make a kid super strong Let's take a normal kid and give him some power! Of course, he'll show some muscle growth, but it's better to be a little guy with awesome strength than to be a big guy who is weak! __________________ www.musclebook.org musclebook.org Forum Admin |

i'm divided on the issue, cause ya really can't (er, shouldn't...) have one without the other, but i guess if i could only be one of the two, i'd want to be stronger. mostly because it'd get really old having people come up to you asking you to lift heavy objects and not being able to...it'd be pretty embarrassing. so, yeah, i'd take the 225lb me benching 450. which i can do already...er, not. |
| |||
well, it doesn't say that you have to be weak if you're huge, it just says the same strength you have now. but if I could only have one, I think I'd still choose size. because the way I see it, if you're normal sized but really strong, you actually have to go out of your way to show people how strong you are to prove it. if you're huge, people automatically assume that you can lift a ton [and that you probably do on a regular basis], so you don't need to show them. for me it's all about the bulk. |

Am I the ONLY one who wants to see pix of Benchdude? 22 y.o., 5'9, 285 lbs., 58 inch chest? Oy! Be still my thumpin', uh, sumpthin' or other...! :-) rpj |

i agree with rpj...wanna see! =) |

I wouldn't mind having a look either! |

heh heh... I know this is a belated post to a long-quiet topic, but why should we have to choose? I want BOTH! SIZE and STRENGTH!! The two together are an incredible combination. Which is part of the reason I alternate bodybuilding and powerlifting training styles.... I guess I'm just greedy. I want it ALL! -- getnbiggr. __________________ 6'3", 225#, growth-oriented lifter. Strength has to be demonstrated, size is simply visible! |

Size or Strength If it's me we're talking about, then strength. But, if it's someone else I'm chosing, then it's size! All the way! I don't have to be freaky huge (although I wouldn't mind it), but the other guy...bring on the beef! I like mass! |

Me too kid |

Size... no... strength.. no ... size! *head explodes* *brain matter goes all over computer screen and keyboard* Ahem.... It's really hard for me to choose, so I'll use the age old technique... flipping a coin. Heads size, tails strength. *flips coin* ... ... ... Guess, I don't know my own strength . ... ... ... *comes up heads* Size! |
| |||
Of course, I want both - but given the option of only one I choose bigger everytime! Hmmmm...and I choose that for all the men in my life too. __________________ "You can never be too rich or too big!" |

Strength for me I also want both but prefer strength. No limits. |
| |||
I went with size. I suspect that many of the people who voted strength are already fairly big men. Or at least average-to-above-average size so they already have a sense of size. As a smaller guy (who is starting to show some muscle growth!) having strength would not really change peoples' perception of me. But let's face it- being a big guy gives you a certain "presence" that can't be beat. |
| |||
Hmm...strength, definately Now, I have to admit, size would be nice - I'm starting (finally) to be able to put some on - too many years at 165 lbs, 6'1" On the other hand, I've always been *fairly* strong for my size - but I admit that personnally, I like the surprise you can give someone when they find you're much stronger than you look... So, strength - yup - makes for more dropped jaws... Doctor9 |

No,no...SIZE! I had a kid in the subway ask me if my muscles helped me in a fight.I said;"No,my muscles keep me OUT OF fights!"(Intimidation WORKS!!) |
| |||
My wife wants me to pursue more size, she likes the offseason bodybuilder look. I like having the strength, but for me training for strength is synonymous with training for size, so I get the best of both worlds. |
| |||
The ideal is both, but if chosing is mandatory I'd say strength! strength! Btw, inflated why don't you post some pics of your offseason look |
| |||
Both... but size is such a turn on. Thick and massive , just makes me want to grunt and groan and flex in ecsacty. |
| |||
Strength Am with you musclerough.....love a muscle guy who is super strong. |
| |||
Although the size would be nice, I think that it is much more valuable to have 'hidden strength'. Besides, think about the shock value! __________________ I take great pride in knowing so much in a wide variety of nothing. |

I had to pick both 'cause for me strength without size is just plain missing something, while at the same time massive muscles that don't live up to their appearance lack something as well. The stories I've enjoyed, and toyed with writing (someday - with time), have a hero getting mass, but also gaining strength greater than his size. (Say he looks like a 230# champion bodybuilder, but has the strength of about 3 men his size.) |
| |||
I think that both are equally important. Without strength, size is nothing and without size, strength is nothing. So thoughts are both. |
| |||
Really? You'd say "Neither, I want both or nothing at all." You'd choose "nothing at all" over being disproportionately strong? |
