Testosterone concern

About 5 days ago I took my first testosterone shot which I had a friend inject into my calf muscle. The first day I experienced a little soreness and tightening of the muscle, which was expected. However, the following day my calf muscle seemed to be permanently flexed and extremely swollen. It has been 4 days since the swelling first became a concern and I am not sure if I need to wait it out or go see a doctor. I am unable to walk but luckily I have an old pair of crutches I can use to help me get around. The pain is not as intense now but the swelling is still the same. Does anyone have any advice for me?

Yeah, it sounds worryingly like a possible infection. At the very least, there's enough reason to think it might be infected that you should go see a medical professional ASAP. (I wouldn't even consider it overreacting to make it an ER visit, depending on how much access you have to urgent-care resources thru your regular physician.)

You do NOT want to wait and "hope it gets better" or "see how it looks tomorrow". If it is infected, it's not likely to clear up on its own, and a day or even just 12 hours' extra delay can be the difference between something treatable with simple antibiotics, and a far, far worse (and more painful) experience should it abcess and need to be drained.

Without wanting to scare anyone with horror stories, I'll just say that I've been hospitalized four times for abcesses -- my hand, my forearm (inner elbow actually), left cheek (the one on my face), and a peritonsilar abcess that nearly closed off my throat.

The one on my forearm, I saw that it was swollen, and said, "I'll get a good night's sleep, and if it still looks bad I'll see my doctor tomorrow. It's not like my arm's gonna fall off overnight." ...It nearly did, and that 12-hour delay earned me a week-long hospital stay and an excrutiatingly painful surgery. If I hadn't waited, a course of pills would have sufficed.

In the case of both facial abcesses, I was under a doctor's care at the time, but still worsened too quickly to avoid emergency treatment. The doctors treating my throat just weren't able to diagnose it properly, they tried 2 different meds that didn't work before sending me to an ENT (ear-nose-throat specialist) who took one look down my throat and immediately admitted me. In the other instance, not many doctors expect a swollen cheek to be something that can balloon into a full-blown abcess literally overnight, so they weren't aggressive enough. Fortunately, by that point in my life, I did expect the worst -- the second things started looking dicey I headed straight for the ER. And only had to spend 5 hours there, instead of another week in the hospital.

These are just MY experiences, and fortunately (...not for me) they are atypical. But I can't stress enough -- if you're unsure about anything related to your health, don't "wait and see", or base your decisions on how others' bodies react -- everyone is different.

Go see a professional. If it's nothing, your doctor will tell you that it's nothing -- and then you'll know better what signs to look for (or not), if there's a "next time".

why would u do ir first shot in your calf muscle? how long have you been using? it could be your friend hit a nerve . Was it a clean needle? I hope its not home brew. If its a nerve try a hot compress on it and see if that helps

I am a registered nurse, and cannont imagine why you would have injected anythin into the calf? Your description sounds very grim... seek help, don't lie ... and if you ever do it again have some with a little medical background do the injection ( in your ass or thigh only )

I think you should meet the doctor before your swelling and infection become even worse.By the way, next time if you take testosterone shot than go to expert one for proper intake of testosterone.

As mentioned above, why on earth would you inject into your calf muscle?

Small muscles have less volume and thus will become much more sore from the added volume of an injection. Next time go into the top of your quads or if you have really low bodyfat, you can do your glutes.

If you don't have a fever, you likely don't have an infection. If you do have a fever, just tell your doctor what you did and he'll prescribe a round of antibiotics (and probably lecture you).

unless they are stupid as hell nobody in their right mind would make home brew anabolics with seasame oil. Its not pure enough also too thick. most people who have made their own or for others use grapeseed oil. if
