Sci Am You might be interested in the July cover story for Scientific American. It has an article about genetic muscle growth experiments and how they work. Sci Am is always a good read. |

Thanks for the heads up! I only wish these scientists would get this genetic muscle growth rolling, I read about it several years ago. I'm still waiting for something to move into the world of bodybuilding. __________________ -ottomun6- It's time to stop sitting on the sidelines and get in there! |

Sci Am I just read an article in Discover magazine about similar muscle growth experiments on mice. They actually said that coaches and athletes have approached the researcher to inject them or their team to grow muscle. Sounds like prime source material for a muscle growth story huh? BTW how important do you guys think penis growth is to a muscle story? I mean, most guys want a bigger penis but it could get too big to be usable other than for masturbation, right? Peace, cutlerfan |

do these experiments only work on specially breed mice, or do they work by injection.? If it's the latter, then yes it would be a good source for a story. And as for penis growth, I for one find a normal sized penis to be the best. My fetish is muscle growth, not penis growth. However, everyone will have their own opinion. About 12 years ago, when I was single, and in the Navy, I dated this guy on my ship that had an enormous penis. There wasn't much to do with it, and I truly learned that you can have too much of a good thing... Just my 2?. __________________ God is in the rain. |

although,if it's really enormous... ...you can squeeze it between your massive pecs&suck yourself off(just a suggestion) |

Hey, you-you sex mongers! we were talking about muscle growth, not giant peckers! ...that being said,... uh Brent do you still have that guy's number? I hate to think that he is lonley out there LOL __________________ -ottomun6- It's time to stop sitting on the sidelines and get in there! |

Otto & Glamma, O h my God you guys are funny! Thank you for that! __________________ God is in the rain. |

Discover Magazine The muscle growth factor is a virus modified to carry new genes that cause muscle growth. The virus is injected and can theoretically alter anyone who receives it. No pre-existing genetic template is required. Anyone could be bigger but the virus is still only being tested on normal mice. BTW, the virus is engineered to be harmless to humans except that it delivers the new genes. The new genes are like additional alleles(forms of a genes) that increase muscle growth. They are similar to alleles for height. The more you have of them; the bigger or taller you will get. Peace, cutlerfan |

Looks like I'm going to have to raid the magazine stand now for Scientific American and Discovery. Cutlerfan, was it the latest Discovery magazine? If I'm hearing you right, then they might be able to apply this technique to adults? If so, I may have to bribe the scientists with some new beakers or something __________________ -ottomun6- It's time to stop sitting on the sidelines and get in there! |

I'm not a scientist, but... I could see the muscle growth virus working on adults, but the height I would think would be a problem. Given that once the bones "fuse" additional growth is nigh unto impossible. And, at the risk of being somewhat of a pessimist, of course before such things become available to the general public there will be the usual ethical/moral issues to work through. After all, what is probably being developed as a method to improve the health of those who for one reason or another are currently wasting away might never become available for recreational use (think steroids). Time will tell... __________________ "You can never be too rich or too big!" |

Discover mag I believe it was the latest issue but I will check for sure. In response to notbigenuff I have to add that the research was begun to try and develop a possible treatment for people with muscular dystrophy whose muscles have atrophied. With all the side effects of steroids, I shudder to think what negative effects this treatment could cause. Peace, cutlerfan |

I know no one has posted anything on this thread for awhile now, but I thought i'd add some words here since this is a VERY relevant topic for all of us, a kind of small insight into whats just around the corner, and what prehaps we might all be getting our hands on within the next 10 years. I've just been carrying out some research and found this very intriguing article that i thought you guys might wanna read http://fig.cox.miami.edu/~cmallery/113/muscle.cell.pdf Its well worth it... Its awesom to think that soon we might all be able to use genetic engineering to change your physique to new heights. At the same time, obviously there is the concern of not only what side effects such a thing might have on ones health, but also on the extremes one might go to enlarge them selves, like how many time they go for treatment, how much size is enough? Currently, there are limitations to how big and how much muscle one can pack on ones frame. The skin for one thing, can only stretch so far, obviously far enough to accommodate 25" biceps - 31" (the worlds biggest???) then there is the factor of ones genetic make up, But, will there be a limit in ten years time... And muscle aside, on that same note, will there be limit to how far one might go in enlarging ones penis...! Just some mind boggling thoughts... Interesting stuff. I'm curious to see just how far this will all go! |
