Annoyance to "Oh, boy!" - ance. (Sorry.)

Two days ago I had to pull an all-nighter at the gym where I work. There is this guy who repairs our treadmills, whom I dread seeing. He has always had a deeply weird personality, and once he starts talking it goes on for hours, no matter how much you try to shake him off. Further, he is a skinny geek who claims to be this great martial artist.

So...of course one of the treamills went nuts, and I had to call him to come fix it. What a shock! I hadn't seen him for a couple of months, and he looked like he'd gained twenty pounds of muscle. He trained, and I was amazed by his arms, chest, traps. What's more, he seemed to have had a personality transplant. He was calm, pleasant, talked about interesting things. I don't know if it's an issue of his blood-sugar being more even now that he is eating right, increased testosterone from the andro he is on, or just more confidence because of the way he is looking; but whatever it is, I hope he keeps it up!

It's interesting what some of the pyschological side effects of working out are. It's just a guess, but I bet part of why he was annoying was because he had a poor self-image and tried to over-compensate (i.e. talk too much in an effort to impress). Now that his self image has improved he's more confident and doesn't need to try and impress as much.

And of course, exercising in general is a mood improving activity!

A very good guess, and more than likely right. I'm a Psychology major (one more year until my BA!) and working out definitely does improve your mood, self-image, and your confidence.

Yeah! I can't afford therapy, and apparently I have needed some for a long time (according to my "good" friends)... What's your IM?
