Well, the Olympics are nearly upon us and so it only seems fair |

and I suffered a boot in the middle of posting a poll, and I can't now, so: Which ancient muscleman / strongman do you think would do the best at the ancient Olympics? and Which modern day (1896 onwards) strongman / bodybuilder would do the best in the weightlifting competition in Athens? |

Ancient strongman at the Olympics The quick answer for the ancient strongman (leaving out the gods and goddesses of ancient Greece and Rome) would be Milos of Crete. He's the guy who, so the story goes, is the inspiration for all resistance training. He started out as a slim young man with a young bull. As the bull grew, so did Milos, BECAUSE Milos picked the bull up every day. At the end, the bull was huge and so was Milos! Saves a bundle on gym fees, supplements, chemical enhancers, etc. ! Mdlftr P.S. Post 1896 strongman: Hmm... tougher. Best looking is Eugene Sandow, of course. Strongest....hmm...maybe Herman Goerner (sp?) German strong man from the late 19th-early 20th century. My Weight-training-history two cents, Mdlftr |

confused I don't want to go off topic too much, but I've always wondered why the Olympics does drug testing. Didn't the ancient Greeks ask for powers from the gods? So wouldn't they use anything that could give you an advantage? This doesn't make sense to me... __________________ God is in the rain. |

this doesn't have to do much with the previous posts here, but for me, the man to watch (well stare at anyway...) is Shane Hamman. So big, so strong.... He's doing weightlifting, duh, and is actually one of the first chances the US has at getting a weightlifting title in a while, if i'm not mistaken. anyway, google him, and route for him in August! |

I was thinking of Quadzilla, Paul DeMayo. Your suggestion of Shane was much better. BTW, 24 Hour Fitness is running a Train With Shane promo. __________________ God is in the rain. |
