Creatine

I was wondering if I could get some opinions on the use of creatine. I've decided to use it myself to help me with my workouts and I'm sure some of you guys have surely looked into it and/or used it. So please come forth and share the knowledge.

It works, if you follow the suggested amounts, and drink LOTS of water!

try it!

i find it makes about a 5% difference.a little fuller,a little leaner,a little stronger.not a huge deal, but it beats nothing.it is the amino acid peculiar to red meat,so it will give you the benefits without the downside(fats, etc)

I wonder if I love it because it comes from red meat, and being a vegetarian, I would naturally have a deficiency. B12 is another nutrient for vegetarians to look for BTW. Back to creatine: I find it helps me work harder & longer in the gym. Plus, it does make you muscles slightly fuller like Glamma said, but for me it's the other benefits I love.

I am not a big fan of Creatine. Most of the gains have been shown to be secondary to water retention so once you stop everything quickly disappears. It also tends to make many users a tad bloated in terms of muscle definition. It may however give you a slight edge in working out because hydrated muscle does have a greater intrinsic contractile capacity. If I would vote for one supplement, go with whey protein. It is cheap and has known anabolic benefits coupled with proper training.

Look, it works, and it doesn't have an animal part in it's name. I've learned to ignore labels and live in denial...

I'm with BuffDoc on this one! I've use whey protein and have been happy with the results. I've never used Creatine, I admit, but the stories I've heard from people about severe cramping and possible kidney impairment make me steer clear!

I'm not debating the superior value of cheap protein. IMHO, either whey, or casein protein are good, but BuffDoc would know WAY more than me in that dept. I do notice a major difference on creatine however. That's just my experience.

i'm with brent

no supplement house should have to defend itself against people who CHOOSE to OD.i've never had a problem with creatine.i'm not a vegetarian(i have been from time to time)but i eat very little red meat&creatine seems to help.as a general rule,i would reccommend consistent training for about 3 months before anyone STARTS trying supplements.your present diet may be fine!i would also suggest trying any new supplement by itself.only way to figure out if it works for you.
