Josh Duhamel

Here's a little before-and-after morph I did of hunky actor Josh Duhamel who was used as the model for a character in the hypno story To (Protect and) Serve written by Hyptrance. He needed a little more muscle to fit the part.

Just curious: in response to your last drawing, what are those rings around him supposed to be?

Rings? I see no rings. I see spools of something that could be film in the last photo, but no rings in any drawings or photos.

Rings

The rings/bands are around the guy's waist and right wrist in the final 7/31/04 drawing entitled "pic looking for a story" or something to that effect.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. The idea I had when I made that drawing was it was a forced muscle growth scenario wherein a jock was drugged, bound to the table with metal straps (hence the "rings"), and injected with a serum that went out of control. I wouldn't want to be around him when he wakes up.

Superman Returns

While Brandon Routh is already quite hunky, I can't help but feel he looks a little too lithe to play the Man of Steel now that the studio has released a picture of him in his costume.

Oh well, what's a lad to do... except add a few extra pounds of muscle on him just to see how Superman ought to look like on the big screen.

Better? Any bigger then they'd have to make the movie R-rated.

Why didn't they cast a bigger guy to be Superman...? At least someone with a bigger bods with pecs and biceps... This guy just looks average to me... Although his bod does resemble Christopher Reeve's...

Agree with you, bluecoolz!

The reason Christopher Reeve got the part was because he was a very good, convincing actor. (Like the ads for another superhero movie say, "You believed a man could fly") Reeve was very believable in the part, and did a masterful job of portraying the complex interplay between Superman and his alter ego, Clark Kent. That's why those movies still resonate today.

In contrast, Lou Ferrigno, who was amply physically blessed to play "Hercules" with all the pec and arm size you could want, can't act to save his life. That's why "Hercules" never took off as a series or got major co--stars in it, like the Superman series.

One type of movie has the sizzle ("gawrsh lukit them pecs/thighs/abs/bis/tris!") and the other has the steak ("While I believe that Clark Kent ultimately is the human realization of the character, his superego, in the form of Superman, is clearly the better form, and an exemplar of perfection towards which flawed humanity ascribes.")

The steak keeps the audience coming back for more!
