Captain America.... maybe? OK, I remember when I was younger seeing a movie on TV that was about a superhero, possibly Captain America. There was a scene where said superhero got his powers. If I recall, and it was a long time ago, he was in a chair sort of thing resembling an electric chair, and the thing that stands out is when his thighs grow huge, in fact all of him does, but the thighs are what I remember. Is this ringing a bell for anyone? Was it Captain America? -Steve |

Does anyone have screen caps/clips? __________________ just my thoughts as a writer Things happen. |

You are right about it being Captain America. It was a terrifically terrible movie and a copy was floating around online a few months ago; unfortunately, I didn't keep it. It was made in the early 80's so the effects were rather crude. The growth scene was limited to the lower body; the thighs were good but I recall the calves as especially well done. |

Was it this guy? |

Isn't that John Eric Hexum? If so I believe he killed himself unintentionally by being really stupid and putting a gun loaded with blanks up to his temple and pulling the trigger. Body by God brains by Mattel |

No, that's Reb Brown. rpj |

Yep, Reb was a joy to watch but only for his physical attributes. There were also a few "sequels" to this first Captain America show but sadly they didn't improve in story/acting either. The only version of Captain America that was more regretable was the largely forgotten attempt at the big screen which I think pretty much went straight to video. __________________ "You can never be too rich or too big!" |

Thanks Omelissokomos, Hey do you have any pics of the "before" (skinny) version of the character? I bearly remember the short series but I love seeing how they do the before and after transformation. __________________ -ottomun6- It's time to stop sitting on the sidelines and get in there! |

The infamous Captain America movie was still on one of my DVD-RAM disks. It does not feature the guy in the pics above but rather a similar appearing but much less built actor. The transformation sequence is about 1 minute in length--more explosions than anything else. I don't have a good way to share it with others; it is about 9MG in length. If you are interested in viewing it or perhaps can host it to share with others, let me know. |

Hey guys, the pictures here are great, but that's not the guy I remembered. I found the 1991 Captain America DVD, starring Matt Salinger on Ebay and just won it today. The pics above from the earlier 80s Captain America look like the after effects of some sort of transformation sequence. Anybody know anything more about those? -Steve |
