Pain Tolerence, Pain Relievers, and Overtraining

Kind of a stupid question.
I normally have an exeptionally high pain tolerence, but from time to time will pop a couple Motrin if I have an ache or pain. Would it be possible to get myself into an overtraining situation if I end up taking a Motrin or two shortly before going into the gym?

No worries, bud. A few over-the-counter pain relievers won't mask enough pain for you to keep training beyond what your body can handle. Over training happens when you're not giving your body enough time to recover between workouts, or not giving yourself enough sleep and nutrition. As long as you're giving yourself enough recovery time you'll be O.K.

If it's something that a few otc drugs can take care of, it's probably nothing major. Now, if you were taking some hardcore pain pills, either you're injured (which we all know is different from being 'hurt) or you're overtraining.

No pain pills here xythan, I sprained my foot bad a couple years ago and actually told the ER Doc I didn't what the Vicodin he wanted to prescribe me and refused the pain reliever that was a prescrition version of Motrin since I lived with my aging folks and have plenty at home. Got a "funny" look from the guy when I said that too.............

One thing I have noticed is that sometimes I can push myself a little harder in the gym if I do have a Motrin or two in my system, not sure if I'm imagining that or what though.
