Exclamation Prez Debates TONIGHT!

FYI Everyone,
First of three Presidential debates will be televised tonight! (9 p.m. ET)

Be sure to tune in, so you can hear exactly WHAT each candidate says. That way, you'll have the opportunity to make your own decisions about who had the best responses, rather than getting them filtered through the news media.

Election 2004--Vote like your life depended on it!

I thought it did?

I still love the comment Cheny made saying that how this election goes could determine if we live to see another day.. hehe.. Politicians are always bad at blowing the smallest issue out of proportion and totally ignoring the no-rating-winner major issues.

Anyways.. Let's just watch and discuss shall we?

It's On.. hehe...

I didn't realize that Bush was so short! I am actually surprised that Bush is doing a decent job during this debate (even though he does come off as a parrot - admittedly a very slooooww parrot).

So far, it's been the same rehtoric. Nothing new so far.

argh

of course,i thought Kerry was better.i must admit;bushie warmed up as the evening went along.the right-wing press will focus on the IMPORTANT issues(is Kerry using a bronzing agent?&were the NYC subways running during the convention?they were)as opposed to mere fripperies like;was sending more than a thousand soldiers&who knows how many Iraquis to their deaths a good idea?

I don't really see a point to watching them. I hate Bush. I think Kerry is boring. I already know who I'm voting for although I wish I could vote for Kucinich. Sigh.

Bush's body language said it all. He looked swarmy, uncomfortable and can't take criticism. That's why the overnight polls are giving the debate to Kerry.

Debate

Finally, Kerry got a chance to get "on message" and directly rebut Bush's "Inaccurate" statements.

Good points to Kerry, calling Bush on his inaccuracies and misstatements of Kerry's positions ("I didn't say I'd bring troops home in 6 months. I said I'd follow a process, and, if it worked, the troops could be home in 6 months.")

Also, re: the war:
Kerry: "I made a mistake in the way I expressed myself about the war, but that is nothing compared to the catestrophic mistake this President made in waging it."

Other points Kerry made about "responsibility" and how, as Commander in Chief, your job is all about responsibility-- a clear reference to Bush's shirking/dodging/weaving of any responsibility for the war in Iraq and bad outcomes.

[Thought: Maybe "W" stands for 'weaver' ? --
As in "ducking and weaving from responsibility"? Just a thought....]

Other Kerry line: "Going to war in Iraq because Osama Bin Laden attacked us, would be like FDR declaring war on Mexico for the attacks on Pearl Harbor!" [FYI Pearl Harbor was bombed by Axis fighter planes from Japan on 12/7/41]

STill, Bush DID rise to SOME rhetorical flights of fancy--in his closing remarks, when he talked about being on the "mountain of peace looking down on the valley of war" and another Biblical reference he made to America as a land blessed by God.
Bush is clearly aware of his support group---and it isn't far left, 'Godless' liberals!

This debate was very helpful to me. It solidified me in my choice of Kerry, and also underscored Bush's major policy failures. Bush has been engaging in wildly inaccurate and just plain wrong statements about how things are going for so long, without being effectively challenged or called on it, that it was beginning to seem like that old dictum about "the Big Lie" was correct----repeat something often enough, and no matter how wrong it is, people will begin to believe it. [Was Goebbels the chief proponent of that idea? ]

Can't wait to see the Veeps: Cheney v. Edwards next Tuesday!
