new guys! Just a couple of points I've been meaning to post. Some guys think that, after a while,100lbs.starts to feel like 50lbs.At one time,I thought that if I could do curls with 55,that was OK.Now,I'm comfortable with 80.(I've done sloppy curls with 250)Let me tell you something:50LBS.STILL FEELS LIKE 50LBS.!The weights never feel lighter,to me.What changes is your perception of:"I can't do anymore."THAT keeps going up&up!Also;try not to get in the habit of squeezing your eyes shut on heavy lifts.Think about it:there's no way your eyelids are going to push up a bench-press.It just makes you feel like you are putting effort(where it doesn't count)&there's a safety issue:"oops!Didn't get it on the rack!"Keep pumpin'! |

good points I feel that 100 pounds feels lighter than 50 did when I first started lifting, so I'm not sure about that one, for me. However, your point about keeping your eyes open is a good one. Closing your eyes is dangerous, it isn't productive, and it looks stupid. Yelling/grunting helps, but not eye closing. I would also like to add arching your back. If you have to arch your back to get a weight up, your partner isn't doing their job, and you risk serious back injury. Always be safe! __________________ God is in the rain. |
