| "Hot" but tiny! Not to bust your bubble, but I met Mark Alvisi at the Arnold a few years ago, when he was trolling for sponsorships (and he wasn't in anywhere near to photo-ready shape). He's tiny! Maybe 5'8" or 5'9" and nothing special. He photographs well, and he has the whole "dark Italian stud" thing going for him. He doesn't have a very outgoing personality, either. At a forum like the Arnold, where everyone is smiling, and shaking hands, and clapping people on the back, he came across as uncomfortably shy around people, and as someone who has a hard time marketing himself. He had a few people around him (manager?) who were talking him up to sponsors, but he himself was withdrawn and obviously having a hard time putting himself out there. The point of all these fantasy shots is just that. Take a small guy with low body fat, shoot him in extreme close up, so you can't see his relatively small size in relation to anything else, and count on his dark good looks to make up for the lack of serious muscle! |

| A painfully shy Mark Alvisi sounds even more sexy than imagined he'd be. If he were a pompous ass blowhard, I don't think he would be appealing at all. But, yeah, being shy isn't helpful when you're trying to market yourself. I do get the feeling when watching his 'gay for pay' muscle worship videos that he seems very uncomfortable doing it. It's really kind of sad that he's so insecure with his own sexuality. It would be nice if straight bodybuilders like Mark (and Chris Jalili) would be flattered that other men find them attractive. | Well, if you think Mark Alvisi is small at 5'8" then you'll be disappointed by a large percentage of the bodybuilders out there. If you take a look at their stats on usamuscle.com, for example, you'll see that lots of them are that height or shorter. In fact, really tall BBers are pretty rare. |
