"Manhunt" on Bravo Purging. Sorry. Last edited by Aardvark2; September 30th, 2008 at 08:08 PM. |

Where's the beef? Yes, I watched the first show, but I was hoping to see bigger muscles. The one muscleguy I focused on that was close was sent home (no doubt because his muscles are too muscular) Even then the host proceeded to tear down the rest of the guys: "your chest is to big, your arms are too big, your upper body is too beefy", etc. etc. My balloon was popped when they sent the one muscleman home. (Sigh) But, at least there are a lot of good looking guys there. __________________ -ottomun6- It's time to stop sitting on the sidelines and get in there! |

I'm with you ottomun6...the one guy that actually has something of a chest has already been eliminated. I've never understood why the top "male" models have always had to have such an androgynous look to them and any guy with any muscularity at all was said to be "too big." Isn't "big" (and I don't necessarily mean height or weight, but big as in muscular) what makes them more male instead of little boys??? That's why I don't typically watch these shows (and why I visit web sites like this one). That being said, how many of these "top male models" do you actually see on magazine covers??? Go figure! Later! |

sending home the muscleguys? ive watched the show and checked out the site. whats the deal with them sending hme the muscle guys? they were deffinatly not too beefy for me.. and as for hunter... her is my second favorite. the first favorite was that cocky muscle guy that got cut on the first go around. |

I was so excited when I first heard about this show - then I watched it. IMHO, while the majority had a "look" which was mostly due to their hair stylist (bangs, bangs, bangs...) less than a third fell into the category of making me look twice. Add into that the ones with any size got cut and what do you have? Nothing I'd cross the street for. As sad as it is I see better looking - in terms of truly handsome and not just twinkish - men when I'm shoping for groceries at Publix and, living in SW Flrorida that's saying something. I don't know... Maybe I have an odd sense of what makes a man handsome, and I just don't mean nice body - although it is a great bonus. |

I saw a portion of it tonight. I agree with the assessment of other viewers. They definitively cut anybody with any modicum of size. They told a lot of guys that they were too big and gave advice like a) stop bench pressing , b) lay off the weights, c) chest/arms are to muscular ( these guys were not even anywhere near huge) or my personal favorite d) you look to "Men's Fitness" which in my opinion is actually a good thing. I would have kept all four guys that they initially cut and dumped some of bizarre looking lanky tigs they kept. Do straight men really aspire to be so waiffish? All my straight pals are trying/talking about getting bulked up. |

you said it! although the"butt-f**king in space"sequence was amusing. |

what the f...!?! show is better than i thought.can't watch more than 10minutes at a time,but they re-run them endlessly.SO,after sky-diving in their boxer briefs with another guy strapped to their backs;&picking up their goodie-bags filled with essential designer grooming products;the ex-model/Marine drill sergeant announces"this exercise taught all something very important!you'll never get anywhere in this business without teamwork!"....MODELLING!?!this could be the runaway comedy hit of the year! |

I hate to admit it, but I watched some more Manhunt last night. I now understand why they are so bitchy about guys that are obviously muscular. It boils down to the designers- they make their clothes for the size regular guy with a small waistline. So a set of beefy pecs or arms would require customized clothing. This was evident last night when they tossed out a guy that was tall (6' 5") and also had beefy pecs. They also had a "spy" in the group that made a dumb mistake. It is a secret that he IS a model, but he and another guy made a bad move by allowing a couple of girls into the suite after hours--a voilation of the rules. Kind of a bonehead move for someone trying to stay under the radar. And to top it off, he had a cocky attitude when confronted with it, Now everyone hates him and wants him out because they want a serious shot at the modeling contract. __________________ -ottomun6- It's time to stop sitting on the sidelines and get in there! |

Model sizes... I've never seen the show, but Ottomun6's comments: [QUOTE=ottomun6]I......It boils down to the designers- they make their clothes for the size regular guy with a small waistline. So a set of beefy pecs or arms would require customized clothing. ............................... True. Standard size is a 40R. So, the likely winner will have no beefy pecs, no big guns, no huge thighs or bubblebutt..... Why bother watching this, again? |

Hot or Not lasted how many seasons??? Maybe the producers of these shows need to get in touch with mainstream America. I repeat what I said before: how many of these "top male models" do you actually see on magazine covers??? Then, how many more muscular guys do you see on the news/magazine racks in bodbuilding mags, exercise mags, etc.??? Something that makes you go "HHMMMMMM." Later! |
| |||
Lucas, I couldn't agree more... and with everyone else as well. It's almost like this show has an agenda to reshape american's perceptions of what the "right" man should look like. I have DEFINITELY found in my life that the more bulky and muscular I get - the more attention I get from people of the same and opposite sex. Now if that isn't an indicator of popular look, I can't think of a better one. Isn't that what it's all about? really? I mean - we ARE talking about attractiveness and masculinity here, aren't we? I don't get it at all. Quote:
Again - I don't get it. |

Methinks the whole thing is about finding people who fit the clothes rather than finding people who look good in the clothes. The idea is to make the clothing look good, and if they have muscle, it means the designer has to fit the clothes to them, rather than just using them as a slightly thicker-than-usual non-wire hanger. |

It is a pity that Singapore does not have this show... Do you guys know if this show is available for download via bittorrent...? If so, which website...? |
