Dennis Newman

The first time I saw Dennis Newman I was shocked that a man that good looking could also be that big. Face it, he had a great smile, great face and a great body.

I recently found a great Newman fan page http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/dennisnewman/

Unfortunatly, Newman has aged and that fresh pup look he had going for him has now become a more genneric bodybuilder look >>sigh<<. Its not that I don't get turned on by older bodybuilders,I just miss the old Newman.

I'd love oppinions on who everybody thinks the new Newman might be.
Got any Ideas?

Hmm... I actually think he was one of the first BBers I came across (beyond Arnold and Lou F.) And you're right.. he has aged a ton, but if I remember correctly it is partially due to a health issue he had a few years back.

I can't remember correctly if it was cancer or something just as deadly, but I do remember him being in Hiatus for an ungodly long time. But it's good to see that he's back in the game That's whats most important, never giving up, standing up and tackling whatever life throws at you.

EDIT: Just did a search, he had leukemia.

Well, now I feel like a jerk.
It's not my goal to offend anybody & I had no clue that Dennis had been sick. This is what happens when you talk about people that you don't really know; it always bites you on the nose. I did not mean to judge the apperance of a man who just had a battle with a life or death illness.

However: Dennis Newman is THE MAN in my books, classic good looks, charming personality, amazing body & now I know that he has pulled threw a difficult personal tragedy. I'll always be a fan.

I'd still like to know if anybody thinks that someone is in the same catagory as a Younger Newman. I think that young Newman is hot and being younger than Newman I'd like to know who in my (or a younger) age group is trying to emulate him.

Smile Dennis Newman

I agree. Dennis has always been #1 hero for me. I was very ill at the time he had leukemia and it was his determination that pulled me through my problem. I shall always be thankful to him for that. I have gotten to know him a little since then and he's as nice as he is handsome. I'm glad to hear he's "back" but I wd be grateful for the details which I don't find on this site. As for successors, how abourt Sagi Kalev, or Marl Dugdale? Neither are as tall but both are as aesthetically pleasing. Zeb Atlas comes very close, though he has not as yet reached the physical status that Dennis had when he won the USA. But he is as tall or taller and just as good-kooking.

With Dennis its the smile that wins you over and I always figured that to have that bright of a smile you'd have to be just that nice. Its one of the reasons that he is my favorite and its a ood thing having that "hunch" confirmed by somebody who has known him.

THANKX

Dennis in a movie

A while back I came across this link: http://www.no-pain-no-gain.com .

A movie about bodybuilders starring Dennis Newman and Gus Malliarodakis.

The trailer makes it look like a pretty solid b-movie at best, but I'll watch it if it comes out on DVD. The site has been up for about a year or so (at least, that's when I came across it) and I guess they're working out the promotion, etc.

Enjoy,
-R

Mdlftr will become famous soon enough
Dennis Newman movie

No Pain No Gain is mentioned in the current issue of Muscle Mag International. I assume they're looking for a distribution deal, since the article talks about showing it at a film festival in Los Angeles.

I don't have it written down anywhere, but I seem to recall that Dennis Newman is 5'9" or 5'10". And I also remember being VERY surprised that he wasn't at least a six footer. But then his excellent proportions tend to give the impression that he is a tall man.

Dennis Newman was always my choice for Superman...he just had that perfect, comic book super hero bod. He was hit with leukemia but fought back...no easy fight.

I think the next up and comer is Frank McGrath, a youngish bodybuilder from Canada.

Ya know, Dennis would have made a great Superman earlier in his career. However I think that Hollywood would probably lean toward a leaner though built guy that looks more like a buffed model than a bodybuilder. From all the recent chatter about the new Superman movie, that's the way it's starting to look, a buffed model type. So sad, because it pinfully obviuous that Superman should be a bodybuilder.

Okay, FRANK McGRATH is a great runner up to NEWMAN (and thanks for the photo, that's hot!). Funny thing is I'm from Canada and know a couple McGraths so I'm going to be looking into that one a little further... who knows?

Can you tell me more about Franky? Also, any more photos (a good relaxed one where he is smiling)?

And does anybody else think that they have a better choice for the new NEWMAN?

Frank McGrath

How about one relatively relaxed and one smiling...there's not a lot in the way of pics out there on this guy.

Um, just paint an S on that second pic and I think we have a winner. It's a nice thought at least, but unfortunetly unlikely.

But now I have a new BB to track at least

While we're on the topic.

While we're posting about BB's, here are a few I've noted lately.

Bryan Davies, a 6'4" guy who just is amazing at that height.

Also, on Scott Abels site (http://www.scottabel.com/welcome/welcome.htm) he has a client who is really great, click Photos>Clients>Dan Fedeluk.

Woof!

Thankx for the links RyBear, good photos there and good competition for Frank.
But with that new photo (yum) Frank is stealing my heart.

My only question is, if his cloths are that tight, how does he get them on?
