when you're not lifting/other interests

Dear Bodybuilders and Enthusiasts,

I know that what ties us all together is our mutual love of muscle and big guys, but I'm curious. . . . what do you do when you're not lifting and/or being worshipped by those of us who love muscle? Many pro bodybuilders like to promote the image that they're much more than just musclemen, that they're also regular guys with regular interests. So I'm asking, and feel free to decline to answer: when you're not lifting and getting bigger, what do you like to do? For example, when not oggling musclemen in my area or on here, I love to write plays, to sing, to read, to knit, and to spend time discussing modern art, philosophy, American and European history, and current events. Anyone is welcome and encouraged to weigh in. Let's get to know each other better!

In that case we clearly have a lot in common. I'm involved in a community theatre group (and have done a farir amount of acting in the last 10 years) and have even written a couple of things for them based on "Around the World in Eighty Days" and the traditional English tale of Robin Hood.

As well as that I am an admitted phesposlogist (a person who studies elections) and at the moment am looking forward to:
  • English Counties and Unitaries (June 2009)
  • European Elections (June 2009)
  • Japan (before September 2009)
  • UK General Election (before June 210)
  • US Mid Term Elections (November 2010)

So if you would like any aspect of UK history cleared up (such as "Did Richard really bump off his own sons in the Tower of London?") then don't hesistate to ask.

Great question!
I think I'm more the blue collar type:

- Football
- Reading on how to get bigger

Photography is my prime interest other than hanging around in the gym. I take mostly landscape and natural subjects. You can see some of my pictures here at http://www.visualvalhalla.com
Other interests include hiking/camping, volleyball, and the occasional PC strategy games (Age of Empire III)

Besides growing muscle, ogling at it, and being a soldier... I enjoy the trappings of cultural immersion (language, food, customs, architecture, song, etc.) and enjoy traveling places to experience said cultures. I am a music fiend... I have almost 85 days of continuous music on my iTunes. I'll pretty much listen to anything (other than Rap and Country... exceptions to this rule: Johnny Cash and Beastie Boys). I also enjoy performing music: play brass instruments but my main one is tuba, I sing, and conduct the church choir. I usually read a little before going to bed each night... books tend to be of the Sci-Fi bend... HUGE Star Trek fan here. And finally, I enjoy wine to a great extent... I miss being home around all the Calif Central Coast Vineyards, but these Rheingau and Rhein-Hesse Valley wines here in Germany aren't so bad.

I love sci fi too, but not the alien and gadget "Star Trek" variety. I'm more into science fiction as it used to be, more fantasy, but with a strong human base. The polish novel "Solaris" is one of my favorites. George Clooney made a fabulous film version a few years ago. I love time travel stories like "Somewhere In Time" and the works of Jack Finney. I love black and white photography, and the music of The Eagles. I think it's cool that while a love of muscle unites us, that there's so much diversity.
