The Cellar Dwellers For those of you that appreciate "old school" weightlifters and big beefy muscle, I've got a treat for you. After threatening to do it for a few years, I've finally uploaded video clips from the classic Winston-Salem, NC cable access television show, "The Cellar Dwellers". The show features competitive stone lifter Steve Jeck, author of "Of Stones and Strength", and his construction worker pal Chris Kennedy instructing you on the fine art of gaining mass and strength as they lift weights in their basement and backyard. Steve has put together a compilation dvd featuring segments from the 40 plus episodes they produced in the series in the late 1990s. These clips were captured from aging vhs tapes of the program I recorded when I used to live in Winston. (Note - Jeck's DVD was made from the master tapes, not from the tapes I recorded of his show off the air - I'm not sure if any of the clips below are on his compilation DVD available from ironmind.com). If these guys don't win you over with their goofy charm, you're hopeless.... Note that the "Hula Hoop" video is still processing and unavailable as I post this, but should be up soon. I agree! The big guy is great. He uses the hula hoop so casually as if it were plastic! |

These were fun to watch, Our gym is a large version of a weightlifting cellar--more equipment but just as grungy. |
