Atlantis Baltic Cruise So this isn't really a personal, but I was curious. Is anybody here going on the Atlantis-chartered Gay Baltic Cruise on July 22nd? |

I'm not going but it sounds like one I'd like to do (mostly because I'd like to do a Baltic cruise.) The first cruise Naoyuki and I went on (March 2004) was an Atlantis cruise around Hawaii. Quite a fun trip although in some ways it was in spite of our fellow passengers instead of because of them. About half the people on the ship seemed to treat at as a 5-day, 24/7 Circuit party. They never came out of their cabins until the sun went down, partied / danced / drugged / drank all night, then crawled back into bed when the sun came up. And then there were those who never stopped (I hate to think what they were taking) who did all the shore excursions, too. They were pretty easy to spot since they had any number of conflicting patches (motion sickness, nicotine, God knows what else.) The really nice parts: (a) Incredible amounts of eye candy. Not all of those big beefy hunks were circuit party boys; some of them even talked to you in the hot tub! (b) Shore excursions were great, since you were (almost always) with a group of fit, energetic men. Getting on and off the bus was a breeze (potty breaks were fast, too!) (c) Entertainment was above average (I've subsequently learned) for cruises. The drag queens, gay magicians, gay ventriloquists, and gay whatever had a built in edge over their counterparts on straight cruises, since they were actually playing TO us (instead of pretending we weren't there...) And Margaret Cho (on the last night) was just right! We haven't done one since then, mostly because: (1) The eye candy was great, the staggering drunks not so much. (2) We're cheap. Why pay more (and you do, with a charter) to go to the same places? We're happy to take our chances with the straight people, or, better yet, go on a Pied Piper cruise where we can count on having a big F.O.D. contingent! :-) If you get a chance, Stoneman, DO it! All the best... Richard |

Circuit boys and men in better shape than I am. Just what I was afraid of. Oh well. Thanks RPJ. |
