New Feature: Live Member Chat Rooms! First official chat Sept 25 @ 8pm ET SURPRISE! Live chat rooms are now available to all registered Evolution Forum members. Just follow the "FlashChat" link in the navigation bar (it's next to the Log Out link) to open up the chat system. A link also has been added to the Community forum listing. Or go here Open Chat Rooms Now The chat system is integrated with our user database, so logging into the chat room will automatically do so under your existing username. First official chat will be Friday, September 25 starting @ 8pm ET Come say hi to other members in our new chat rooms! The chat rooms of course will be accessible 24-hours a day, though maybe we can figure out regular days and times for organized or themed chat sessions. I hope everyone enjoys the new feature! |

Ultra cool, Flexodus, many thanks! I was just thinking the other day "it would be SOOO nice to chat on the Forum." See you at 8 p.m.! (Which is what? GMT -5?) xoxo Richard |

Some feedback regarding FlashChat, now that it's been up for nearly a week: (1) Links are clickable, which is very cool. On the other hand, anyone using Chrome or Safari on a Mac will find their entire screen underlined if they click on the link; only fix anyone has seen thus far is exiting, re-entering. (2) The "re-size" option can be tricky to use, especially in the "members list" section when the list gets to be longer than screen length (around 22-23 on my screen.) I've tried to scroll up and down when the list was 25-27, wound up minimizing (but not closing) the window, and then couldn't resize it without exiting / re-entering. (3) Lotsa people are NOT chatting. I don't know whether they're doing one-on-one or just logging in and then never closing out. I don't think I've seen more than 4-5 people chatting at one time, even when there are 20-25 people in the room. (4) Losta people have been asking for RP but I'm not sure much of it is going on. Usually no more than 1-2 people in that room when I've been in; I recall one time where there was actually some RP going on. Once I went in when there were 4-5 people present -- and we chatted! No chat going on in the main room! (5) As with any chatroom, it has quickly become clear that IGNORE is a very useful function. Like any other chatroom, this one is going (does!) have people who thrive on conflict, usually generated by indiscriminate put downs. << rolls eyes >> I hope everyone remembers that engaging such folks just encourages them to do more. Remember: IGGY is your friend! (6) Ya need to go back to the Main Board to get to profile information and oftentimes that information is out of date, skimpy, or simply non-existent. That makes it hard to find a good conversational opening. I've taken to asking people to "please tell us at least 2 stats about yourself, any two will do -- inseam, hat size, whatever!" All in all, it feels very retro, a la the Musclenet Men's Steamroom, circa 1998, only very, very stable (if a bit slow) -- I like it! Oh, yeah, and: The Jetson's music rocks! xoxo Richard |

I see your ID in the RP room...been there awhile. I don't ever log out...if you do the same, you might try hitting Log Out in the menu and re-logging in. |

Love the chat function, however, noticed a bug that is keeping people logged on despite them leaving... as of a few moments ago, the following users were in the room but not really there: greekboy14, musclelaz, epicurean, redkage, egofeeder, abcd123, geektoteenthor, hjbnyc, stoneman, dabigguy1, ricphoenix, skarlath, slavetomusle, musclephil, gahalas1, robotsmasher, digger, fitnessrx, amazed, atlas, username3, forgeaus, lolipop21, dragonitexy, freakmuscle, kirby_freak15, ncscuc, and pirate Any way to reset the room or some chat moderator function that can force log them off? Let me know if I can be of help. Gabe |

BTW, there were only four others in the room that were actually logged in and really there... |

I had the same problem yesterday. I was chatting, then, as it usually does, my router decided to reboot. After getting back online I couldn't access the chat anymore, as it said that someone using my name was already logged in. I tried logging out and in from the forum but it didn't change a bit :/ __________________ 75% of the population is made up of 3 people every 4. |

gogr2 and I were experimenting on how to log out and if using the red x in the top right was any different from just closing the window...it wasn't...that time...my name dropped off the list and popped back up when I re-entered the room. BUT...one time during the evening I did use the red X and, instead of closing the tab, a log-in screen specific to flashchat (i.e., NOT the usual forum log-in screen) came up. Looks like the forum is passing log-in info to a flashchat log-in directly and the glitch might be in the code there: some people can get in, they just can't get out . Just another shot in the dark...hope I don't hear a scream |

A little more info: I just closed chat with the red x. A message came up saying (paraphrasing here) "the app you're using wants to close this tab" (I'm using IE8...yeah, yeah...I know all the opinions...it works for me) and if I hit yes, it appears to log me out and closes the tab; if I hit no, it leaves the tab open, logs me out, and gives me the flashchat log-in screen I mentioned in the previous post. And, yes...I have too much time on my hands at the moment...I EARNED IT, lol. |

Thanks for the feedback, fellas! I sent private messages to the two dozen or so guys who appeared to be logged in with NO activity for at least 24 hours. The ones I've heard back from (about 8-10) ALL reported being locked out of the room and not knowing what to do about it. I sent a follow up note to Flexodus, the site owner / administrator, but thus far no feedback. I wonder if the automatic log in could be the problem? Sounds like it! xoxo Richard |

Unfortunately, the KICK command doesn't just remove people, it bans them! So now I can't get back in either. Oh well...! xoxo Richard |

the ban lasts 10 hours.... be careful what you ask for Richard... it can come back to bite you. __________________ http://www.scott-safier.us "Stand firm for what you believe in until or unless logic or experience prove you wrong.
