How fast can you grow with and without steroids?

How fast are you realistically expected to grow when using steroids? I can personally say that WITHOUT them, 20lb in a month is not out of the question, but this rate is a very rapid one time achievement compared to the usuall 1lb a month of an already large man, or perhaps 2 or 3 a month for someone still making progress towards their realistic max weight. But what sort of boost in growth does it provide? is it really a plateau breaker, or does the gain fade away without them?

there is a big difference between adding muscle and just adding weight to your body. anybody can add 20lbs of weigh to their body but the % of muscle will be very low. with out steroids the serious gym rat natually on adverage add 10-15 lbs a year. That means everything has to be perfect for the whole time. Also you age body structure how you lift and recover also are factors in this. the only way to determine if you actually butilt 20lbs of muscle is to have a bisopy done on a particuler muscle group. Body fat is not always a indicator that you added muscle

Agreed, 10-15 pounds/year without steriods.

That's actual muscle mass. 1 pound/month.

Between 17 and 23 you might get more but after 25 don't count on more than 1 pound/month.

12 pound a years ain't bad considering that in 5 years that's 60 pounds of solid muscle. 160 to 220 ain't a bad change!!!

Bodybuilding is a lifestyle not a fad or a pill. If you want to grow you learn exercise technique, nutritrition, and persistence.

A solitary pound a month is considered the standard rate of progress for someone already experienced after a year or so, and eventually even that will stop altogether. For someone starting out the rate will be tremendous, provided the method is done perfect. But, I was curious as to what sort of boost anabolics actually give. Ive heard that the gaines while using the stuff on the first cycle is between 15lb to 30lb and the same for HGH. But i was more interested in the actuall rate of progress, and when it trailes off, and also how long that gain stays.

I have waited a while before jumping in here.

Your specific question was: How fast can you grow with and without steroids?

The problem is that there is no easy answer to this question or "questions".

Here are a few of the variables to consider:

1. If you are genetically programmed to have a low testosterone level and are a classic hard gainer based not on body type, but on testosterone level then you would respond probably quite well to the use of the proper A/S. If you are genetically a hard gainer because of body type with an average or better natural testosterone level then your gains would still take longer than average.

2. In order to profit the most from the usage of A/S your training is going to have to be VERY intense and the training is going to have to take your cycles into consideration in order to have the best results.

3. The next thing is that the A/S that you would need and would be best for you might not be what is available and this also has it's negative drawbacks. It is well known that not all people respond in the same manner to a given combination.

4. The unfair thing about A/S in general is that some respond to them very well and gain at an astounding rate, others will work their rear ends off and have gains that are not significantly better than using more conventional methods of supplementation.

There is one other thing that is somewhat weird about the use of this kind of supplementation. In those who have tons of androgen receptors the effects are pronounced and this takes place rather quickly. At the opposite end of the spectrum is some older guys who have not had good T levels for years. Some of these guys also respond astoundingly well making equal gains to those young enough to be their kids if they do it right. It is the average guy in between that has it the hardest.

The one thing that is the most important is that you really need to study this for a period of years before taking it too seriously. If you have the knowledge of a P/A with regards to this subject you are far more likely to have success maximizing gains and far less likely to create other health issues.

Good Luck [/COLOR]

I can testify on this... a guy I know is a long time user, and you would hardly know he even trains most the times I meet him. another guy did the simplest cycle and exploded with size and strength.
