DHT Topical Gel

I'm not exactly a hairy guy and I heard DHT Topical Gel could help grow body hair. And since it's DHT, does that mean it's like a steroid that can be absorbed through the skin(meaning more muscle gains)? I also heard it's used to get rid of mild gynecomastia, which would be hitting two birds with one stone. Well, possibly three or four.

So what're all the effects of DHT Topical Gel, good and bad? For long time use?

DHT has good and bad points. It is the most androgenic of all, but it is not the most anabolic so as a mass builder it "sucks". It is I am told decent during cutting and I am told it has some other benefits. Yes, if used long enough in some men body hair growth can be triggered. It is interesting in that the body does not recognize it unless the dosage is extremely high so it does not cause testicular atrophy. It is however inside the United States a controlled substance and is just as illegal without a proper Rx as are many other things. For falling testosterone levels of aging it is one of the best. Male pattern baldness is ONLY agrivated IF you are genetically predisposed to it. In and of itself DHT cannot cause alopecia if you do not have the genetics anyway. There is now conflicting data regarding the danger to the prostate. While some individuals insist that it will cause prostate enlargement, other treatments for prostate enlargement are now in several foreign countries using DHT and hormone management to reduce enlarged prostates. Time will tell where this research goes.

There are basically two topicals you can use but they don't promote DHT, they prevent normal free testosterone from converting into DHT. Conversion of this type tends to be more location-specific than other types of conversion with the majority of testosterone to DHT conversion occurring in and around the scalp. DHT in the scalp attacks hair follicles initially weakening the hair and making it coarser and thinner and eventually killing off certain hair follicles. This makes it one of the more prevalent chemicals in triggering male pattern baldness. From the body as a whole, higher levels of DHT mean less freely available testosterone (in other words the test you either naturally produce or are injecting or otherwise getting is being changed into DHT and thus doing you no good).

There are three primary ways to prevent the change of testosterone into DHT. At the localized level you have two topicals you can use. Rogaine (monoxidil) which is a liquid applied to and massaged into the scalp. This is the most common anti-hair loss treatment that's available over the counter and in topical form. The second is Nizerall shampoo (ketoconazole 2%). Nizeral AD is the over the counter version and is available in either 0.5% or 1%. The 2% version (the actual effective one) is available by prescription. Nizeral can be used either as a medicated shampoo or even as a body wash and is absorbed into the skin by allowing the lather to sit on the skin for 5-10 minutes before being washed off. If you shave everything before using it, the absorption rate is much better.

Both of these topicals can lower overall DHT levels and will make your hair look healthier and your skin feel better, and can sometimes reduce the puffiness of nipples in people with pseudo-gyno (fatty chest while not being true gynocomastia). These solutions merely eliminate DHT. To actually prevent your testosterone from converting into DHT in the first place you'd need to take Finasteride which is a 1mg pill normally marketed as Propecia. It prevents the actual conversion at a body-wide endocrine level. It is also available in a 5mg version called Proscar used for treating enlarged prostate which can be broken up into pieces and taken 1mg daily. One thing -- VERY IMPORTANT -- women, girls, even female pets can NEVER be exposed to finasteride. If you are going to take it, you have to make sure you take the pill, then immediately wash your hands thoroughly and keep them sealed up and out of the way.

1. The problem that causes gynecomastia is NOT conversion into DHT, the administration of DHT is a treatment to reverse this problem. The problem that causes gynecomastia is conversion of high levels of conventional non alpha reduced testosterone into estrogenic compounds.

2. Finasteride and Dutasteride are as a hair loss preventative a disaster. It works by preventing normal conversion of testosterone into DHT. This vastly increases chances for development of Gynecomastia and is in fact listed as a side-effect of this medication. Both Finasteride and Dutasteride have many unpleasant side effects including creating disturbances in the pituitary axis of many individuals as a hormone imbalance is detected. There are a percentage of men who have MAJOR problems with this.

Both of these parent drugs were developed as a temporary treatment for BPH using the DHT short-circuit method.

3. Rogaine/Minoxidil has ZERO impact on hormones, hormone conversion, or any other related subject. Minoxidil was developed and is still in use as a drug to treat extreme hypertension. The oral version of that drug is the most potent drug known for this purpose. With regards to hair growth it works by increased blood flow including oxygenation and nutrients to the hair follicles because it has this effect even on the smallest capillaries.

4. Any interference in the function of DHT in a person with bodybuilding interests has potential to increase Estriadol/Estrogen levels slowing muscle development and increasing body fat deposits.

5. It is DHT that is responsible for the maintenance of all male secondary sex characteristics and development at puberty. Remove DHT even with a 55 gallon drum of testosterone and nothing happens as it should.
