From admirer to musclebearer..?

Has anyone who used to simply be an admirer of muscles ever gotten the desire to BE that guy with muscles?

I used to simply look at guys and think, "Wow! He must be so powerful!" but now my mindset has shifted to, "I'm gonna make myself like that." hence my growing love affair for the gym.

Anyone else have a similar experience they'd like to share?

I know exactly how you feel, that's the same for me. I think it's the natural evolution of the admiration for muscles. You like what you see, then you want to look like what you see, or even better, hahaha!

Mdlftr will become famous soon enough
It's true. I used to see muscular guys while I was growing up -- friends of my older brother. As time went on, I realized I liked the look, and now I lift to achieve it myself! Over time (much, much time) I've put on 65 pounds since I graduated high school at 145#! And I still want more!

What Niko and Mdlftr said. I don't think many people take up bodybuilding by accident. They do it because they like what they see.

Yeah I think this is more common than you might think. I know I am another example of this. I haven't gotten as serious as some of these other guys, but I started lifting a year and a half ago and have gone from 160 or 165lb to 190lb. Sure, not all of that has been muscle, but it's cool that I actually have some muscle now! Eventually I'd like to get up to 200lb or 220lb and have my chest and arms be a lot bigger. =D

Interesting! I've always wanted to be the guy with the muscles; can you explain why you just wanted to see muscles at first? and what caused the change?

Well, I think this is the main reason: When I am being held by a guy who is well built, or just whenever I'm seeing a movie with one ect, I feel very safe and comfortable. It's a feeling I can't get in any other situation. I know there're many other guys who love that feeling, and I'd love to be able to provide it.

I think it's because I figured out I want to be the one large and in charge.

That is also a motivator for me, but I don't think I would ever use my power to push someone around in reality. If it were in the bedroom, that would be a different story.
