fat ectomorph Hey there Ive been one of the "ectomorph" breeds since i was born! i finally decided to do something about it recently..and started working out again and eating like a pig. Diet is not really my strong point when knowing the ins and outs of everything. Basically..ive put on quite a bit of weight..but it seems to be mainly fat. I kinda look like a pregnant man now on a skinny body! What is the reason for this and what should i alter to my diet? Cheers |

You're eating "like a pig"... but are you eating the right foods? Or are you just eating as much as you can, to try to put on any sort of weight? If it's the latter, then I'm not surprised that you've put on fat. If I understand it correctly, what you want most is complex carbohydrate (to take up your overly fast metabolism's efforts) and plenty of protein. Moderate levels of fat are good, too, but don't go overboard with the fat. Another obvious question is, what are you defining as "working out"? Are you doing cardio, for instance? Your workout quality could be the problem - if you've got bad form, for instance, you won't put on muscle as quickly. |

in terms of eating i eat lunch and dinner with my family. lunch is normally some sort of pasta dish served with tuna and dinner can range from anything from rice and mince to chicken with vegtables. however the snacking inbetween meals consists of protein shakes, peanuts, and i guess some sort of fatty product at 5pm where i need some sugar rush but ive not been eating junk food really..except maybe the 5pm muffin or biscuit club in terms of working out - i only do weights, and to avoid overtraining, im only doing them 2-3 times per week, however i guess im only targetting a muscle group maybe once a week. im not doing any cardio whatsoever. walking up the stairs is prob. my daily cardio |

What would probably help you more than diet is working out. Try doing some weight training a few times a week. Muscle burns more calories than fat so if you don't pig out the flab will quickly be replaced with muscle, and what guy wouldn't want to be more muscular. |

You're prob borderline diabetic. Try focussing on getting 3-4 grams of protein per pound of your bodyweight. Get the protein from regular foods like burgers and sushi and such. Then your calories should fall in line with it. Also avoid simple sugars unless theyre coming from fruit __________________ Quit jerking off and morph yourself for a change! |

You first gain fat at your belly and then it tends to spread out a bit. At least... that are the stories that i heard =] |

Fat is gained all over the body. Some areas are more noticeable than other (hips and waist on men, upper arms on women) but fat cells accumulate evenly. That is why there is no such thing as "spot reduction" 0f fat. That's why those "electric jiggle belt" machines do nothing for your fat. You have to burn more calories than you take in. Reducing your caloric intake and increasing your caloric expenditure (eat less and exercise more) causes you to lose fat. It's not easy, it's not quick and it's not "fun" (as opposed to stuffing your face with cheese curls?? THAT'S fun??!) but it does work. My two cents Mdlftr |

That's why I mentioned the borderline diabetic (or some other insulin related dealio) because generally only a few things will cause belly-only fat. __________________ Quit jerking off and morph yourself for a change! |
