Here's one for ya: |
| |||
thats a hot pic! |
| |||
Oh yeah! That's delicious baby! |
| |||
I'd love to see..... I'd love to see more of this guy. PLEASE..... where is this image from? Thanks so much! |
| |||
The image is at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/popeye...ualtendensies/ in a folder titled "Muscle Like Bluto's"--no identity, though, and no other pics of this guy. Here's another one that all but technically belongs in this thread: |
| |||
Thanks so much,Stache! That definitely qualifies!You've got quite the collection!Care to show these kids who Steve Michalik(pre-accident),Kal Szkalak,Don Howarth&John Corvello are? |
| |||
John Corvello What in tarnation...You mean the young people today don't know about them fellas? Well, by dingies, I aims to remedy that!! |
| |||
Steve Michalik Back in my day, he was the bee's knees: |
| |||
Kalman Szkalak Yep, that Kal was one good lookin' fella, by jangies! |
| |||
Don Howorth Ayep, old Don was just swell in my book: |
| |||
Any chance of.... ...BOB BIRDSONG in his prime? Phew, for GMOACA (Gay Men Of A Certain Age) this is starting to get powerfully nostalgic. Anyone else remember the ads in the back of Esquire magazine? The "Ah Men" catalog? And others whose names I can't recall? Wish I'd saved my copies. Thanks, 6-5. You have not only a 'stache but also an unrivalled stash of aged beef. David |

Ah Men and Esquire Our minds are running on similar tracks. As I posted the pics of John Corvello I also thought about the "Super Shape" ads in the back of Esquire and the Ah Men catalog he modeled for. That's why I posted Ric Drasin (another Ah Men alum) in the Perfect Men thread today. Here's a few more--a couple of Bob Birdsong; George Payne, who was in a lot of Ah Men ads; and Jim Haislop and Kevin McNamara of Super Shape fame: |
| |||
Here's one for you... What about Pat Neve -- and his exercise equipment ads in Muscle and Fitness? Or Frank Zane and Betty Weider? or Annibel Lopez? Mdlftr |
| |||
Down Memory Lane How about a musical track for this thread--perhaps a player-piano rendition of Carry Me Back To Old Virginny? Here's a pic of Pat Neve and another of Frank Zane sans Betty Weider (with the beard he looks like a wiry version of Bluto). And you left out my favorite comic book ad guy--Robert Nailon. Forget your preconceived stupid Aussie drongo stereotypes--that Down Under dude was hot whether wearing his stiletto-cut jeans or rather commodious white speedo: |
| |||
Mexicano Hottie Here's some Anibal (Annibel, Mdlftr?!) Lopez: |
| |||
More From The '70s Here's some more guys that made me feel all funny inside when I was a boy: Denny Gable and Joe Nazario from various muscle ads and, last but certainly not least, some outrageous musclebound giant from the Parr of Arizona catalog, circa 1976 (wish I knew who he was): |
| |||
mmmmm...Jim Haislop! ..TIMELESS!This is fun!OK,..a challenge!John Kemper!&Freddy Ortiz!You're so generous,'Stache! |
| |||
John Kemper Yeowww!! This guy is still smokin' hot!!! |
| |||
Freddy Ortiz A long time ago Freddy became my model of how to fill out a shirt. Here's that pic and a few others: |
| |||
Brian Eastman Here's another mind-blowing bod from 1970s magazine ads: |
| |||
Tasty bicep. |
| |||
Mr. Lopez and others... 6-5 StacheDude, You da man! You must have the world's biggest vault of oldies but goodies in bbing! Thank you for Mr. Anibal (so call me illiterate) Lopez, Mr. Neve and others. How about: Rod Koontz (Thee Animal), Hubert Metz and Pete Grymkowski?! Mdlftr |
| |||
WOW! What a trip down memory lane! Thanks! |
| |||
As Requested Mdlftr: Those of us who know you forgive your occasional spelling lapses. We undestand the difficulty of the learning environment in your one-room school back in the hills. Hubert Metz pics are like hen's teeth, as your people are wont to say. The attached is the best I can offer although it really fails to do him justice. Pete Grymkowski pics are, of course, much easier to come by: |
| |||
Hot Rod Ravishing Rod Koontz: |
| |||
"It's time to play... ..STUMP the 'STACHE!"Ahmet Enunlu(a DEVASTATINGLY handsome man!) |
| |||
Ahmet Enunlu Easy. Pics of the 1979 Mr. U are a dime a dozen: |
| |||
Out Of Obscurity The devastatingly handsome Jon Lloyd: |
| |||
Matt Dufresne This guy had a phenomenal bod and looks that really made him stand out from the crowd. As if that weren't enough, he consistently wore the skimpiest posing briefs of anyone in the 1980s: Last edited by 6-5 stachedude; May 25th, 2005 at 07:45 AM. |

'As Requested'... 'stachedude, Quote:
I completely understand. I imagine that your one-room school back in the hills behind mine didn't give all of you your own charcoal stick to write on your shovel to gain better unde-r-standing like ours did! All is forgiven. Great pix of Metz and Grymkowski. Any pec shot of Pete is pure pec-fection! Rod looks pretty good too! Thanks! Here are some new ones: Rory Leidelmeyer and Tim Belknap. Two 80's built dudes I remember as very inspiring! Mdlftr |
| |||
And what about... ...Joe Meeko? |
| |||
Up-Rory-ous 80s Guys So, Mdlftr, first you're gonna [sic] me on a typo, and then you're gonna publically make fun a my schoolin'? I'm here to tell the world that at least we used pages of the Sears-Roebuck catalogue for toilet paper, while you-uns was still using corn cobs!! Here are your Tim and Rory pics: |
| |||
Pix and skools... 'Stache, As always, your pix are the best! I remember that first picture of Rory. There's another side chest one of him from that same series where he seems to rival Ah-nuld in his prime: major chest beef sweeping out! Tim Belknap is amazing -- even more so when you consider that he did all that he did at a height of something like 5'3" AND while being an insulin-dependent diabetic! Amazing! Re: Skooling. Those weren't corn cobs --they were leaves. At least WE knew well enough to leave the "leaflets three - let it be" alone! Yo'uns had the best patches of poison ivy up in the hills....ayup! Did that rash EVER clear up....? [Jes kidding. Don' go gitting all 'riled up now, ya heah?] |
| |||
Good-Looking Hunk My brother dinosaurs, Can anyone tell me who this guy is? |
| |||
Handsome Samson The scintillating bod of Frank Calta: |
| |||
Hey Stache!! Who can forget Bill Pearl, Billy Grant, Ron Love....and Boyer Coe, I know mentioned him before... Great collection Thanks for sharing!!! |
| |||
Bill, Billy, Ron and Boyer Don't know who could forget those icons, but in case anybody did here's a refresher: |

A Real Heartthrob Can't think of any bodybuilder from the '80s who surpassed Dave Hawk in the looks department: |
