In the social sphere... ...it is of the utmost importance to seize control of the terminology.I'm trying to popularize the use of a phrase. When referring to anti-gay,anti-choice groups;can we start calling them"right-to-hate"?First amendment rights are inviolate.People can have any opinion they want.Just don't try to tell me it's christian. What do you think? |

I think the more time we allow their hate to dictate what is right or wrong, only makes us to be as unjust as they are. Only through acceptance and understanding can we defeat the problem. Not to sound to sci-fi, but George Lucas, no intentionally, has summed it up the best: Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. I for one am tired of feeling like I am suffering. All the negative energy leads to more umproductive things and not the problems that need to be addressed. We need to combat this the only way that will resolve these problems completely: Teaching, helping, understanding and patience. I admit I am not an expert. This is just my opinon which I feel is the best way. All throughout history, people have suffered becasue no one had taught them to think freely, they just told them how to think. Please, rise above this minor set back, and move forward remembering that the better times are coming. Hate begets hate, love begets understanding and acceptance. Isn't that what we all want, for people to accept and understanding? Here is my two cents (more like one cent, I am sure I can say more...lol) Take care, Mega Last edited by Megahuge; May 15th, 2005 at 10:32 PM. |

I love it glam... I have no tolerance for the short-sighted and narrow-minded and particularly those who hide behind Christianity as an excuse to hate. I'm going to start using it. |

I'm a buddhist, fer chrissake! &as the buddha(an earlier incarnation of George Lucas,no doubt)once said;..."suffering makes you think, thinking makes you wise, wisdom makes life endurable"...I only hope to make plain the fascist ideology hiding behind Jesus'skirts. It's an insult to basic American principles AND christianity. |

I've been pondering this for a while too. The issue I see (at least here in the US, I hope the rest of the world isn't as bad) is that the media is either owned by right-wing weapons contractors (i.e. GE owning NBC), by right-wing zealots (i.e. Rupert Murdock's ownership of Fox), or by right wing organizations (i.e. the Christian Broadcast Network). Nearly all US media is owned by these groups, and it's hard to have any control over speech when the enemy has total media access, and you have none. My hope is that more people of concience will start giving an audience to groups like Air America, or Mother Jones. Otherwise all might be lost. For proof that the right controls the language, listen to old music from periods like the 1960's & 70's. They used the word "Freedom" to mean being free to do what you like. Now it's only used to get votes for whoever the NRA likes. __________________ God is in the rain. |

speaking of anti-right-wing politics.... have any of you ever seen Billionaires For Bush ? It's pretty cute. They staged a "protest" in front of the post office near where I work the other day. |

I've heard them interviewed a few times. They sound like a great group of people that are almost as sarcastic as I am... __________________ God is in the rain. |
