Wasted Biology

Do any of you have a friend or know someone that looks to have the perfect genetics for muscle growth, but isn't into it?

An example- today at the store I saw this huge guy, perhaps 100 lbs overweight, but even with the big gut he had all the signs of a potential muscle monster. He had broad shoulders, huge calves, and good BIG solid frame for weight training.

However, it looked like the only curls he did was with a beer bottle and all of that great big bone structure was just going to get fatter and not more muscled.

Sigh...

Know anyone like that?

haha i used to be that guy, but now I've put down the beer and picked up the weights to take advantage of my large frame.

I do know some people who are like that though and not changing. Now if I run into them again, I'll have to knock some sense into them

Yeah, one of my best mates. He started for a while and just started piling on muscle a lot faster than I could. You could just see he was built for it. Then he got a girlfriend and ditched the gym.

Another lad on my clinical rotation, who has, to be frank, classically English-rugby-lad good looks but lacks the broad chest and shoulders. He asked me recently to help him get setup at the gym. I feel its only right to help him achieve his potential.

Familiar with the phrase: "Youth is wasted on the young"?

So could we say that good genetics are wasted on the unmotivated?

Go ahead- knock some sense into them. Do they know how those of us with less-than-awesome genetics are upset with them?

All right, everyone has the right to chose their own path, no matter what.

But when is that Hollywood movie body-swap technology REALLY going to be available?

Working in construction I come across guys all the time that have the muscle, but make no effort to lower their body fat so the muscle would appear. The common excuse is they have worked hard all day and want to sit back and relax at the end of the day. I've tried many times to get them in the gym with me.

I remember I have a friend like that, in high school he lifted weights with this guy (more of an acquaintance of mine) for only a few months and ended up getting pretty big especially considering the time period. Well he ended up just stopping and drinking and smoking a lot so now he's kinda chubby. Kinda sad though cause if he stuck to it I know he'd have been a real beast.

Yeah, I too had a friend in high school who was getting pretty jacked for football. He went from about 140 to a solid n' beefy 210 when he injured his shoulder his senior year and got lazy. He's trimmed down now and works as a car mechanic, but it was awesome watching him get bigger every time I saw him.

Funny that this thread is here...I was just talking to a guy I know who is like this. Big thick musclebear daddy type of guy, thick shoulders and arms, nice solid chest and tummy, and ENORMOUS legs that look like he's been doing squats his whole life...but when I talked to him, he said he's only lifted on and off throughout his life, and hasn't lifted at all in 5 years!! Unbelievable. He's just a freak.

I can't help think he'd just explode if he started lifting and eating heavy. He joked that he doesn't want to be as wide as he is tall (he's pretty short) and I said, I would like that!! He just laughed.

Can't really complain though. He's a great guy and looks really good even without hitting the gym.
