Mainstream and unusual transformation stories I recently read a story called "Weights and Measures" by Jodi Picoult in which (spoilers!) a husband and wife lose their daughter to illness and then, in their grief, the wife gains and the husband loses the exact amount of weight and height as their daughter had. The story is a head scratcher as readers are left wondering why such a thing occurred but, frankly, I don't think Jodi cared about that and I agree that the "why" or the "what" of the story isn't as important as the feeling and meaning behind it. Still, it's a very intriguing, disturbing, and brutally sad story. Furthermore, it has me interested in other transformation stories outside our usual norm, especially those that use TF not as the focus of the story but as a metaphor or a means to discuss other subjects. And if any of those stories involve guys getting big to then... |
