Giving Up Beer To Gain Weight

I know it sounds backwards, but I notice that any weekend when I drink beer, my appetite goes away and my bulking diet goes out the window and I start losing weight.
Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Well, that makes a certain amount of sense. It fills you up but they're empty calories. I can't tell you how many skinny beer-swilling, beer-bellied alcoholics I've met in my life.

xoxo

Alcohol and Bodybuilding...

...don't really mix well, anyway. Especially once you get over 30.

Drinking more than a glass of beer or wine in a week ~ and even that ~ can significantly inhibit the body's ability to recuperate and grow muscle in response to the workouts you've been engaged in.

Beer is almost completely carbohydrates so unless you need the type of energy that carbs are good for--long distance running--beer is not a good part of a weight gain diet. You will get fat from beer--excess carbs but its not good for building muscle. If you are trying to gain weight and you are not lactose intolerant, whole milk, and lots of it is the best and easiest way to gain some solid weight.

Alcohol is detrimental to your energy the next day. I find that I can't train, and drink so on had to go. I stopped drinking 8 months ago, and I've never looked back. People think it's weird that a guy my size doesn't drink. I don't know how to grow when you do drink. Oh, and you can spend the booze money on supps!
