The Might Hercules Cartoon

Does anyone remember the animated hercules cartoon from the 60's? That show burns in my memory when I was about 5. There was one episode where the villian of the show finds a vulcan mask which makes him invulnerable to Hercules' strength even after he puts on his powerful H ring. The coolest thing was Hercules gut punching the villian and not budging him. Anyone know where to find screen caps?

Oh yeah, that was one of the earliest awakenings of my future lust for muscle. That, and the early Sinbad the Sailor cartoon.

Was anyone else disappointed with the teenage Bam Bam? That powerful little tyke should have blossomed into a superheavyweight mass o' muscle!

Hercules, hero of song and story
Hercules, winner of ancient glory
Fighting for the right
Fighting with his might
With the strength of ten ordinary men!

(Or something to that effect... working from 35 year old memories here)

I can totally relate. That cartoon was the start of my muscle lust at age 6!

For a cartoon character at that time, his physique was very exciting to me, and the couple of times that he couldn't overpower the villian even with his H ring was totally hot!

I loved that cartoon too. It was always shown on a late afternoon cartoon show locally and I always tried to catch it. I always liked the way his thighs were drawn. I guess it was a sign as to what path I was to take in life. Would be fun to see an episode again and hear Johnny Nash singing the song.

What shall we think of the lyricist who wrote that theme song:

Softness in his eyes,
Iron in his thighs,
With the strength of ten
Ordinary men!

Herc and other supes

I remember this clip! The guy in the helmut is Daedalus, the long term bad guy!

I remember as a kid wishing that just once, Daedalus would beat the stuffing out of Hercules. Herc was such a goody-two-shoes and so obviously better than everyone else that it was good to see him taken down a peg or two.

Probably that's why contemporary superheroes all have some vulnerability or tragic flaw -- otherwise they'd be insufferable!

Spiderman: juggling the demands of vocation, avocation and family life
Superman: kryptonite and being conflicted about his secret identity
Batman: being mortal and being conflicted about his secret identity
Hulk: Major mood swings
Daredevil: blind
Catwoman: boring

anyway, you get the idea!

OMG it's SUPERMAN!!!

In the gayest costume ever!!!

Holy shit, like that is probably the only time its okay to describe something that way... because, it really REALLY is.

And I am not saying a single thing about the costume. (Edit: and that people is why you type slowly when you've had a few... I mean the intro song.)

Though, and I might be giving away my age here, I do remember it strangely enough, especially that woman and the bad guy.
