A Gay Rugby team? I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own two eyes! AWESOME! Is there a Gay League? Do you guys play straight teams?

Yeah, there's a gay Rugby league: IGRAB (International Gay Rugby Association...er..."B") We, in Boston, play against gay teams in New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Toronto, and Washington D.C.

We also play in our local, regular, Rugby league: NERFU (New England Rugby Federation... er... "U") We play against straight teams and gay teams. It's pretty fun. I'm a prop (big fat guys in the front row of the scrum)

anyone else find a bit of irony in the the fact that the acronym for this particular rugby league is IGRAB? Like, grab each other all over while playing rugby?

Almost makes me want to see a rugby match.....almost!

[Seriously, I've never seen one, mostly heard stories....like about the infamous "elephant walk"... ...that and the beer. Apparently it anesthetizes the pain after playing without pads. Like Quidditch without the special effects--NOT!]

The Ironsides sound like a nice group.

I picked up scrum-half on the BC RFC last semester and landed a spot on something like the 10,000,000th string. It was a blast but unfortunately my schoolwork got in the way and I had to store the boots and leave the pitch for my books and the library (and, me being out of shape probably didn't help, either, I suppose).

Maybe I'll look into it again, sometime.

Or, maybe I'd rather watch.

(oh, and point of interest: there's a gay team--predominantly, that is, not solely--in San Fran called the Fog, for those of you out there who are of that inclination and in the area. Me, I'm neither, but just thought I'd add my two bits. I?m sure they have an open roster, too.)

I just had to make a quick comment. There aint no fat on you guys. If there is any, it's the only padding ya get when ya play that game. Outrageous Man! Cool and Hot at the same time. I bet you're like my frat brother Joe Petre. He changed from Rowing to Rugby and loved it. But he didn't see eye to eye with a lot of his team mates due to his height. But he started to get real big. No height gains but he still gained in stature in my book. That game can be brutal! He had a poster on his wall of these Viking like Ogres playing Rugby with a beer keg.
