| Yeah they are, but due to the mixing of the several european cultures, notably Dutch / English / French / Portuguese / German / Italian and Greek, you get some rather interesting combo's especially between the major players English / French and Dutch. Also after a while, and with the local Afrikaans language forming, you also got some very specific spelling differences. I won't go into more detail but yeah, one example would be Dutch "van Zijll" becoming "van Zyl". No it's not Vusumzi, and I'm staying mum about it. |
