Superman Returns

Just in case you haven't seen him yet...

Brandon Routh in his red undies and cape:

I question the use of shoulder pads...

I was checking out his superman pics last week. I think he makes a great superman. Looking forward to the movie. Hope there are some good shirtless scenes in the movie also. Jeff.

He does have a nice "heroic" face in the Chris Reeve mold, I can't quite figure out what is costume is made of - his cape and undies almost look like leather or latex. And boy are the panties low rise, or what?

He appears to have a nice "underwear model" type physic, but the blue suit seems to hide more than display if you know what I mean. It will be a *must see* for 2006

I agree, the suit hides more than I would like to see. He appears to have a good muscular build but the suit seems to hide much of his body's definition. It definitely could a thinner material. The low rise briefs look very good.

Wouldn't it be amazing to slip on a suit like that and become superman?

Either as an actor in the role. Or as a fantasy for an ordinary guy to slip it on and become muscular and gain super human strength.

Sure wouldn't mind Mr. Brandon Routh showing up at my house in his suit for some role play!

Jeff.

superboy?

I think this superman sucks, he's best fitted for superboy, sure he's cute and all that but he's not that heavy muscled, not even like Dean Cain. Definitely not my taste, too young.

I'm going to go thumbs down on this one, too. Studio seemed to be in a big hurry to cast someone to get the project started (sets were under construction months before he was cast).

Young and trim -- must be dragging out the 'origin story' concept to restart the franchise.

Believe it or not he is going for the "mature" superman - returned to earth after a period of "absence." The premise being: does earth still need him after all these years?

This according the the IMDB synopsis.

Superman has always been an "ageless" character since he is an alien with no determined lifespan, and we know "hollywood" fears age.

He is "hollywood" casting as usual.

MAybe Hollywood does, but comics don't some of the comicsand cartoons have at least given him abeard sometimes... Anyway, on athier poit,I agree that the suit doesn't show much, and I think TOm welling is much cuter. Remeber however, tha it's not ust about muscle but whether the person has got "The look" As they say. I don't thinkhe does in this case.

Where's the muscle?

Is is just me, or am I the only one who thinks of the "Man of Steel" being just a "tad" bit more muscular than this?

If I were cast to play the lead role in a big-budget movie like "Superman" then I would hit the gym like crazy! It would definately be worth it, considering the million's I would get for playing the role, not to mention future roles in the sequels...

hello everyone,

I finally went and watched the film yesterday!
I know I'm one month late, but heck...I was working

I quite agree with you, rextorres...I was expecting him to be more muscular...the "strength scenes" are not bad, though (lifting the car, the shipwreck, the Daily Planet globe, the 'crystal world'...).

WARNING : spoiler contents below. Don't read further if you haven't see the movie yet and plan to see it

There is still a question : is Jason (played by Tristan Lake Leabu) the actual son of Superman, whom the Man of Steel had with Lois...?? (I didn't see the former Superman movies )
The scene with the piano is quite confusing...and when Lois and Jason are locked up in the boat...suspense when Jason goes to try to open the door, and then Richard (James Marsden) appears!!
At the end, when Superman has gone out of hospital and comes to speak to Jason while he's sleeping...that's very confusing ...
On another hand, he didn't seem to be affected by kryptonite when Lex Luthor approched the green cylinder near Jason.

What do you think guys ?

Hi Sam:

I saw the movie twice and I also had the same questions you had! I was confused after the first time, and I still have some questions after seeing it again. It would have been fun seeing Jason using his super powers!

But, hey, the movie was entertaining, and I loved the special effects. With all the bad publicity which the movie has received, I'll still get the DVD for it. I have written over 1,000 pages of Superboy (Jamie) stories, so I'll buy any Superman DVD that I can get my hands on!

Hi Rex,

I totally agree, the movie was very good and I enjoyed it very much.
I would also have liked to see Jason using super-powers...

I should re-read your stories (I'm a 'little' fan )

If Jason is really the son of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, then he's probably have some powers but not fully matured yet...And unaffected by krytonite thanks to his human DNA. Hey, even Clark took a whole teenhood to fully developed HIS powers.

Or those darn screenwriters are plagued with writers' block, and left a ton of plotholes in the movie.

Well, yes I speak Dutch a bit, but less good than English...My mother language is French A superboy story in French would be awesome ^^ but English is very nice already

By the way, I'll try to translate what you wrote in Dutch :
"Superboy landed in the middle of Antwerpen plain. When he saw a little tent there, he went towards it to buy a bag of delicious Belgian French Fries..."

I also see that you know that French Fries are not FRENCH but BELGIAN...
They were invented in Belgium, and not in France...
