Muscle Beach Party Hi wondering if any has the clip where all the bodybuilders are on the beach flexing in a line. |

OMG... Peter Lupus' finest moment on the silver screen... Remember when he was on Mission Impossible? My dad liked him cause he was Greek too. (Dad was like the dad in My Big Fat Greek Wedding, always pointing out who or what was Greek...OPA!). I always thought it was cute that Peter Lupus' name on the show was Willie. Every once in a while, they'd show him with his shirt off. :-) Anyone ever seen his Playgirl spread? He's not in such fantastic shape anymore, but despite the 70's hair, he's still impressive. __________________ What's wrong with wanting more? If you can fly, then soar! Lupus and Mission Impossible Quote:
Dum, da dum, da dum da duuuummmm! My favorite adventure-spy show of all time! Only Alias has ever come close! I loved all of it: the mysterious taped instructions that "self-destruct in 5 seconds", the elaborate disguises and the complicated plots [anyone remember the episode where William Shatner guest starred as a mobster they took back in time, to make him reveal where he'd hidden the body of a mob hit victim? They made him up to look younger, and got him all doped up with painkillers, and put him on a 1930s street set, so he'd think he was back on the day one of his competitors disappeared. At the end, after he's been tricked into revealing the site of the murder and the gun, he turns around and everyone is gone. He starts to run down the street, and his makeup and painkillers start to wear off. He ages 40 years in 50 feet. He gets to the end of the street and turns the corner, and realizes he's been tricked. Just then, the ominous, long black limosine containing his current crime partner rolls up and opens its doors. The current partner gives him a hard look, and says, "Get in the car, Frank." as the music starts....dum da dum da dum da dummmmmm......[Going on that last ride, Frank!] Lupus mostly did the heavy lifting, as I recall. They'd always show Peter Graves looking through a photo album as he assembled his MI team, and they'd always show Peter Lupus squatting down next to a barbell with his shirt off. [First muscle sighting??!] Too bad he never got featured on an episode. Has anyone EVER seen Mission Impossible available on CDs? I'd buy 'em in a heart beat! MI Super fan, Mdlftr |

>Mdlftr, Hulkmuscle, yep! I'm with you! I loved the Mission Impossible, but I was always checking out "Willie" and his muscles. I seem to remember there were a few episodes without him and I was pissed off! __________________ -ottomun6- It's time to stop sitting on the sidelines and get in there! |

??The guy that played caude???? What show are you talking about? Mission Impossible? Couldn't be! I'd remember that! Mdlftr |

Muscle Beach Party isn't exactly Citizen Kane but it has some good physiques on display. These guys aren't as ripped as today's competitors, but they have that great thick, powerful look about them. Here are some stills from the movie: |
| |||
One of the bodybuilders in Muscle Beach Party is a young....Dan Haggerty, known better in the 1970's as TV's "Grizzly Adams". Dan, by the time of the TV show, got a little, shall we say, big boned. But he had a nice physique through the early 70's. If you can find it, pick up "Pink Angels" on VHS. It's a 1970 or 71 drive-in flick about a group of gay bikers on their way to a drag ball; Dan Haggerty plays one of the main bikers in another straight biker gang. At that point, Dan still had a really nice muscled physique built on from his younger years, including a six pack from hell, and the beard and furry chest he would be known for in "Grizzley Adams". Dan makes out with a black chick in the movie so you get some decent looks at his physique. wolf |

Big boned, I was thinking he was trying to outweigh the grizzly bear, and the cabin, and the eastern side of Montana! OMIGOD, he got BIG!!! But at least he looked solid. __________________ -ottomun6- It's time to stop sitting on the sidelines and get in there! |

Haggerty played "Riff" in Muscle Beach Party. |

?Huh? Quote:
You're saying that Peter Lupus (later to achieve fame as "Willie" on Mission Impossible, played a bodybuilder named "Caude" in the movie, "Muscle Beach Party"? ...Names? Who knew they had names??! Who cares?!! P.S. The only way you'll get my official "Muscle Watchers" Card is to pry it from my hot, hard, pumped fingers--and you'll have to get the 50# Db away from me first! Mdlftr (Who takes this stuff SERIOUSLY!) |

Actually, that sets up one of the movie's funniest moments. Up till then, after every BB does his little routine, they cut to Buddy Hackett who sort of looks at the BB as if to say "you're not so great". When Dan/Riff does his "bouncing" routine, Buddy's jaw drops in disbelief. __________________ Pondering another literary endeavour. |

Those guys look a lot better than some of the pro BBs around today. Notice the lack of roid bellies on them. Ah, if only Colt were around back then... |
