Respect Is it really too much to ask for this community to show a little respect to someone who is grieving the loss of their partner? If people want to have their own consiracy theories, please take it off board. This isn't the kennedy assassination, and NO ONE here has any right to answers. I'm so angry at members of this community right now because of thoughtless, hurtful comments being made, when regardless of the "facts" many of us are taking the loss of one of our own very hard. I'd consider it a big sign of maturity, respect, and compassion if people could restrict their public comments on this board to expressing condolences. If you can't do that, shut the fuck up, because one day someone you love will die and you will feel like absolute shit. |

While I totally agree with the idea of showing respect for someone's grief, I also have an alternate thought (I ALWAYS have an alternate thought - "On the other hand" Tevye in "Fiddler on the Roof" has nothing on me! Anyhow....) THe fact that R Chris Cooper's death and deletion of his stories has stirred up such a hornet's nest on this forum is one measure of how important his work was to readers here. I know that the reaction would not be as extreme if a less prolific author or one less well known decided to take off his stories. Obviously, R Chris Cooper struck a chord with people: his stories, his impressive output of work, his sudden, tragic death and his ultimate leaving. This storm is a testament to his impact. Who could ask for more than that? A bunch of otherwise mellow-live-and-let-live web denizens are suddenly the virtual equivalent of a mob storming the gates with pitchforks!! That's a form of respect. Mdlftr |
