A Discovery Like many of you, I've wondered how I ended up having such an odd attraction to muscle growth. The muscle attraction is easy: Muscles are a clear sign of physical power and health and they're a strongly masculine symbol. The growth part, however, has always confused me. Granted, there are far worse fetishes to have but getting off on the idea of a guy suddenly developing huge muscles is pretty odd but not odd enough that it makes me think it's caused by some sort of weird experience as a kid--though the requisite muscle episode of every cartoon and sci-fi show certainly was a factor! For a long time I was at the conclusion that my muscle growth fascination stemmed from a personal metaphor linking the growing of the muscles to the swelling of the penis. A full body erection you could say. I've found the concept of a guy hulking out due to sexual stimuli is probably my favorite scenario. Now, however, I've learned that it may be more than just something my mind cooked up. Some of you may know this and others of you may just have not linked the two together, but there is a symptom of sexual arousal in both sexes called Myotonia. This is where the muscles of the body become more tense and relax more slowly. While it's not exactly muscle growth as we would know it, it is an increase in overall muscle tone. In other words: we're all attracted to an exaggeration of a normal human sexual function. Here's the info at Wikipedia covering signs of sexual arousal. It checks out in other sources. |

Another possibility... ...is that we're all encouraged to have aspirations connected to:"When I grow up!"We all stop getting taller at some point.Bodybuilding is a way to KEEP GROWING!(p.s.,Lisa Lyons;an early female bodybuilder, once said:"A pump is NOT like an orgasm. But I can make every part of my body erect!") |

...mmm, that's a good point, actually, but it's also pretty depressing. The idea that someone can never be big enough, therefore never good enough, isn't one that I like to champion. But, again, that's a credible theory. |
