I think I like HERE! better. They have a greater variety of movies and specials, thought I'm not sure what Fiddler on the Roof or The Music Man have to do with being gay. HERE! also doesn't bleep every other word.

LOGO isn't all bad, but I really do find the show Open Bar annoying. While the owner of iCandy is nice eye candy, he's a twit. Aside from the common complaints of using the term lifestyle to describe his coming out, and his typical rich-kid-with-trust-fund mentality, he does stupid things like go on vacation a week before his opening.

I'm still waiting for Q-television to come onto DirectTV, then I'll have all three gay networks.

I'd like"Q",too!

here!is good. But I tend to like the documentaries, which they often give away;&I don't have much patience for movies(short attention-span)Makes me feel kind of guilty.

Some of the movies on Here! offer full male fronal nudity, which LOGO can't/doesn't do. Perhaps your attention span would grow to new lengths with such stimulation

I watched All The Rage on HERE! last night. Definitely porn-lite with one hot body after another. The acting was very porn-like, the story was cute (but I wanted the self-indulgent gym-bunny to realize that he loved the non-jock, and the non-jock to forgive the gym-bunny for making out with the horse-hung-gym-bunny and let love conquer all, but I'm a romantic that way...), and the movie had a few good laughs for anyone in a LTR... HERE! is definitely better than LOGO!

And besides, LOGO had a log cabin rebuglican on tonight -- blech! WE press released too, and while our ED isn't exactly a gym-bunny, he is a cute young thing anyway...

Well, not really. LCR never really hurts for money. It benefits the republicans to create the myth that they are inclusive by having a very visible gay organization in the same way it benefits them to display African-American republicans. Even though the group isn't very effective, they constantly get media exposure. Even LOGO has a casting call looking for gay republicans.

The media, when looking to balance a story, will have the partisan LCR talking head debate the non-partisan Human Rights Campaign. The Democratic partisan group, Stonewall Democrats, is rarely teamed with LCR. Publications like the Washington Blade have intentionally (or so I'm told) refused to cover Stonewall. Only recently has NSD begun to get exposure, and mostly because of the charismatic (and pushy) ED we hired. And if you compare NSD's $400,000 annual budget to group's like LCR or even HRC, it becomes very clear the both the LGBT community and the democrats take us for granted. The LGBT community is the second most loyal democratic voting block after African Americans, yet the partisan LGBT group is woefully underfunded. Go figure.

Am I ranting yet?

Q-TV is a national sponsor of Stonewall Democrats -- therefore they must be wonderful. Besides Cheryl Jacques is so much better than Elizabeth Birch in reporting politics -- I mean, really...

"Q"review.

OK,it's been on a week.Pretty good!A surprising amount of original&live programs.Nightly news.Talk shows. They had 2hrs.of same-day coverage of the NYGay&Lesbian Expo. Some shows I haven't seen(cooking, gardening).Extensive coverage of the Gay&Lesbian Rodeo tomorrow. Some things are lame("the Edge")&the station promos make discos look like the epitome of gay life. But overall;a lot of fun with a very promising future!Steve Kmetko hosted the news one night(remember him?)If you get the chance;check it out!

More"Q"....

Finally got to check out their afternoon programming. They seem to be re-runs of older Canadian programs, mostly.First a gardening program. They're working in a studio;so it's mostly container pots.Straight woman, gay guy.VERY basic. Not very entertaining(hint:they overplant like CRAZY)Next a travel program.Nice to see 2 OLD gay guys hosting!Unfortunately, one of them sings.Very informative.Perfectly mainstream destinations.Only gay part is the hosts&the head of the local dept.of tourism. Then another travel program;an original production.Hour-long.Very cute, young blond host.More"circuit"&gay-oriented.LOTS of eye-candy!(they were covering Miami"White Party")Last&best;another Canadian re-run"What's for Dinner?"It's like watching a real-life Jack&Karen from"Will&Grace"try to do a cooking show with NO SCRIPT!VERY fast&funny! They do get food cooked but you don't learn much because they're not paying much attention to what they're doing. As I said before, this network is promising&it may be worth your support.g.

For those of you who don't know...I believe LOGO is an MTV channel. That's why you don't see any nudity or cussing. So far I have only seen Logo on Adelphia Cable. However, I just heard that Time Warner has acquired Adelphia so it might be a sign that Time Warner may get LOGO. Let's hope......

Logo...

....has been available on Time-Warner since the end of June in NYC&a few other big-city markets.I think direct-TV also carries it now. It's advertiser-supported(like MTV)so they bleep most cursing(although they left it in"Angels in America")&they have shown full-backal nudity in the context of films.here!is PPV&"Q"network is a subscription service;so they can get away with more.None of them is an out&out porn channel.

Yes, LOGO is on DirectTV. They "bleep" inconsistently, like, you can't say "penis" but you can say "vagina" and stupid things like that.

DirectTV really pissed me off when they changed HERE! from a monthly subscription to pay-per-view without notifying either the HERE! customers or the station. Suddenly, it just wasn't there anymore even though the program guide showed it was. it took like 5 days before we got an email (from HERE!) saying what had happened.

Having mentioned....

...the Gay Games coverage on "LOGO" above,I'd also like to recommend another show: "When Ocean Meets Sky". It'a an hour-long documentary about the history of Fire Island's "Pines" community. Very interesting, particularly the early stuff. & especially if you know the place.
