Musclemania contest images I went to the Musclemania World Championships in Hollywood this evening. (Prejudging, finals are tomorrow.) I took lots of photos, but I thought I'd share an image of this guy first. His name is Michael something... He competed as an open Light Heavyweight. I would say that he was NOT in typical "contest condition" - he's not very ripped, no tan, he's even wearing a speedo rather than a posing suit. Yet there is something about the fullness of his muscles that I thought this group would appreciate. He just seems like the kind of guy who looks the same year round and makes peoples jaws drop at the beach. (His chest looked even bigger in person- the photo doesn't do him justice.) If anyone else follows the sport of bodybuilding and attends contests, reads the mags, whatever and wants to chat you can look for me as [email protected]. I am NOT a bodybuilder myself but have been attending shows as a fan for many years. Last edited by LittleArm; November 19th, 2005 at 12:22 AM. |

Jesus, and you say the pic doesn't do his pecs justice!?! my jaw was droppin from the pic alone, but you say it's even BETTER in person?? Daaaaaaaaaaaamn, man __________________ just my thoughts as a writer Things happen. |

He has a great "vintage" look to him. Thanks for sharing the pic, LittleArm. |

That's the perfect word to describe him, omelissokomos: vintage. Modern contests are all about 3% body fat, shredded muscles and freakish vascularity. This guy has a classic, healthy look to his physique. You can just imagine him hanging out at Muscle Beach in the 60s with Dave Draper. Who knows- maybe he tried to get ripped for the contest and just missed his dieting, and he's not pleased with his condition. Regardless of what the judges will think, it's still a great look. Two more shots of him: |

Well the thing I presume was in the past was as one guy started to make headway and set new standards then they all had to ratchet up the dieting. The effect Rich Gaspari had changed the game alot...the idea that u could get striations in ur butt was a total eye opener...although I for one think shredded butts are the most unnattractive thing in history.give me what they call "off Season" any day.. |

Speaking of Rich Gaspari... ...He was an instance of a steroid side-effect becoming"enshrined"as a positive!People always talked about his"hardness".If you ever saw un-retouched photographs;he had HUGE pores&SKIN LIKE AN ALLIGATOR!Hence the"hard"effect. |

Ripped? I prefer off season as well. The man posing as a competitor is the best. He does look vintage, and he looks like he put hard work in... but he isn't going to explode out of his skin. .... ok I like both. But if I had the choice, it would be off season all the way. Bigger the better I always say Musclegroworship D |
