BBeyond Camp

He may be only 22, but Hungarian BB Istvan Nemeth is already showing a nice flair for bad taste, and, in the second pic, a nice flair in general:

http://photobucket.com/albums/a282/d.../IN/istnem.jpg
http://photobucket.com/albums/a282/d...IN/istnem1.jpg

This will be a one-off, unless others have examples of BB kitsch they'd like to share or a strong desire for me to hunt down some more.

A suggestion.....

Deet,
Don't have the link, but Mike Mentzer, of sainted memory, posed for some SERIOUSLY kitschy shots with his then-girl friend, Cathy Gelfo, in an issue of M&F, titled, "The Perfection of Man". He looked great in his sabertooth loincloth, though!

Always happy to join you down muscle memory lane, Mdlftr, but IMHO, these are almost tasteful. (Perhaps nostalgia has coated them with a veneer of gold-plated kitsch.) The text on the other hand...

At first glance in mentz 2 at the upper row of pics, it looks like his cock is wrapped up and laying across his leg.

I almost got happy for a sec.

Go ahead and get happy, for more than a sec if you want. Isn't artistic interpretation up to the viewer?

I remember this layout VERY clearly. Like 1981/82? I had a manila folder of clippings I kept as "favorites" (obviously, a pre-cursor to keeping them in electronic form two decades later), and these got pulled out often. :-)

Maybe it's because I saw them at a young, impressionable age, but Mentzer's lines to me are way sexier and more attractive than some of the blocky types winning contests these days.

"KITSCH"!?!?

ALL these photos are obviuosly painstaking re-creations constructed by an international team of reknowned authorities on the Romagyptossyiriababylocromagnon period!(my favorite!)100% authentic.Sort of.

Of course! If you just start with the assumption that Mentzer embodies male perfection, [He DID win the 1978 Universe with a perfect score. He was the first. Lee Labrada did it next.] it's totally understandable!!

I also have the (in)famous(?) poster, circa 1979, of Mentzer standing relaxed, one hand on a hip, the other huge gun just hanging there! MAJOR inspiration for workouts! Esp. chest and tris!

Thanks for the Pix, Deet! May your photo backlog increase!

It appears right before the "Conan" period, and shortly before
"Red Sonja" era! Truly a s-pec-tacular tri...er.."Time" in art history!

To The Hilt

This one's turning out to be more fun than I expected. Hope at least some of you enjoy it too--I've tried to "maintain standards" for the men while goofing on the costumes, props, etc.

Anyway, here's swordplay (sorta) from the incomparable Mike Mentzer and from Ralf Muller, Maurizio Galeazzo, Istvan Nemeth, Lou Ferrigno, Andrej Mozolani, Thomas Scheu and Aaron Baker:

Man and Headgear

(OK, glammaman, it's safe to return.)

The right headgear can bring your whole look together. Just ask Mike Dragna, Chris Dickerson, Marvin Montoya, Matthias Herzog, Milos Sarcev, King Kamali, Tevita Aholelei and Chris Dickerson (again):

Home on the Range?

Maybe not. Mostly make-believe cowboys, but nice to look at.

Gunter Schlierkamp, Mystery Cowboy, Frank Roberson, Rusty Jeffers, Samir Bannout, Steve Wengryn, Lee Priest and one more each of Gunter and Frank:

Our Men in Uniform...

...Police and Fire, that is.

Three of these guys really did the job: Cottrell and StCloud were firemen in Louisville and NYC respectively and Coleman a policeman in the Dallas area.

BB Costume Gala

OK, today ranges from the ridiculous to the sublime--you decide which is which.

Aaron Baker and Mike Matarazzo as Batman (or Bat-guys), Gary Strydom as Clark Kent/Superman, Milos Sarcev as Elvis, etc., etc. (My favorite is either the bizarre shot of Lou Ferrigno dressed up as a Scot or Chris Duffy as a meditating flower child).

Enjoy! And, please, if you have others of this ilk, PLEASE SHARE!

Men in Camo..

..no guns or ammo.

IMHO, only Bob Cicherillo and Bren Baldwin could conceivably be actual soldiers (in some elite BB platoon, no doubt). The rest (Messrs. Levrone, Jablonicky, Cook, Schlierkamp and Atwood) are fighting a fashion battle.
