mmfan's gym time Hello everyone, I started coming here for the fictional stories, but over the months I became interested in the real-life gym discussions as well. I've always been painfully shy about exercise - I guess bad experiences at high school. Then about a month ago I won a free three month gym membership, and it was like that feeling - you know that one that goes "I am ready for this". It was so simple - I knew I wanted it to work. I felt no fear or anything. I just wanted to go. Now it's been five weeks and I've gone three times each week and the results are already showing (at least in my mind!). I love it!!! It was this forum that gave me the confidence, and the free pass that gave me the excuse. When I walk home from the gym I spend the whole time glancing at my arms in shop windows!!! It's really shockingly vain. I really want some exercises that blast my shoulders. The rounder, bigger and more defined I can make them the happier I will be. Any suggestions? Thanks, mmfan. |

I've got a great"finishing"exercise! At the end of your workout, get DB's as you would for standing laterals.Move the DB's about 1ft.away from your hips. This is the BOTTOM position for the exercise.Raise the DB's to shoulder height;back down to a foot out from your hips&repeat(3x10).Arms should be slightly bent throughout. It's basically laterals without going all the way down.Gives a terrific burn.Good luck! |

Hi, I have a bit of a "spare tyre" and so I'm thinking of adding a day of cardio in between my lifting days. Is it as simple as 40 minutes on the treadmill? What do people do for cardio here? mmfan |
